Home My WebLink About1980-01-28-1000AM-Specialk!- s • �I COMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JANUARY 28, 1980 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10 00 A.M. on Monday, January 28, 1980, with the following members of the Court present R J Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding • Bill J Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, H L Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3, W A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Frank Boriskie, County Clerk The following citizens and officials were in attendance- Mary Nichols W D Burley Susan Friesen Dr T L Payne Mary McCoy Steve Nemec Phylis West 0 L Pate Royce Watson Frank May Greg Moses Buddy Winn Bill Davie John Sneed County Auditor District Clerk League of Women Voters Brazos County Firefighters Assoc. GMC Properties Precinct 4 Fire Department KTAM Precinct 2 Fire Department Brazos County Firefighters Assoc. The Eagle KBTX -TV Tax Assessor - Collector KAMU -TV KAMU -TV The County Judge opened the meeting and thanked all present for their support in the bond election. The County Judge next recognized Dr. T. L. Payne represent- sing the Brazos County Firefighters Association Dr, Payne re- i quested authorization to buy communication systems from Texas I' Forest Service in the amount of $1,170 00 and to purchase addi- tional communication equipment for each vehicle for a total of i $6,203.00. Dr Payne also asked the Court to work closely with the Fire Departments to help them use funds equally for each precinct Commissioner Cargill moved to grant these requests. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously. On notion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to complete the Roadside Erosion Program in three (3) years On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously approved the payment of annual dues to the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas in the amount of $100 00. The Court next considered the payment of fire calls to the city of Bryan for the month of December, 1979. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the city of Bryan in the amount of $1,648 00 On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve and adopt a con- tract with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for services to be performed by the members of the organization for Brazos County. On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve Requests For Change In Status Of Employees as follows. This item was passed to be taken up at the next meeting. The Court also considered a request by Carolyn Hensarling, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 2 for a monthly car allowance This item was also passed to be taken up at the next meeting On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously adopted a Permit for Installation of Driveway Facilities on County Rights -Of -Way, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. It was the concensus of the Court that a letter be written to each utility company who has blanket easements with the County to notify them of the correct procedures they must follow. The County Judge next informed the Court that Judge Clyde Day, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1 had completed a 20 hour course required by law The Court proceeded to consider the following Claims submitted by the County Auditor for payment General Fund Claims 217 through 345 On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to pay the Claims as submitted. The County Judge then called a Special meeting of the Court to be held on January 31, 1980, at 9 00 A M. for the purpose of canvassing the results of the County Bond election. Design of facilities shall be as follows and /or as shown on sketch. All construction and materials shall be subject to inspection and approval by the County Commissioner in whose Precinct the facility lies. 2. Maintenance of facilities constructed hereunder shall be the responsibility of the grantee, and the County of Brazos reserves the right to require any changes, maintenance or repairs as may be necessary to provide protection of life or property on or adjacent to the roadway. Changes in design will be made only with approval of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas. 3. The grantee shall hold harmless the County of Brazos and its duly appointed agents and employees against any action for personal injury or property damage sustained by reason of the exercise of this permit. I 4. The grantee shall not erect any sign on or extending over any por- tion of the County Road right -of -way, and vehicle service fixtures t such as service pumps, vendor stands, tanks or water hydrants shall be located at least twelve (12) feet from the right -of -way line . to insure that any vehicles serviced from these fixtures will be off of the roadway.
