On motion by Commissioner Wilcox,,seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously approved to pay fire calls to the city of College Station in the amount of $644 91 and to the city of Bryan in the amount of $206.73. The Court next considered a Contractural Agreement for the purchase of right-of-way for Highway 6 South On motion 'by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court authorized the County Judge to enter into the agree- ment, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes The Court next considered the Preliminary Plat of TICKLE TOUNGE HILL in Precinct 3 On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to approve the plat as presented On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to approve Requests For Change In Status Of Employees as follows Susan Whitehouse Debbie Ponzio Carolan Stickney Linda Ricketson Bennie H Bilbo Lee Roy Hosey Loretta Jenkins Brenda K Pruitt Mary Lynn Garrett Melinda J Waldrep Brazos Center Court Administrator's office Court Administrator's office Court Administrator's office Livestock Arena/Pavilion Precinct 2 Precinct 3 Tax office Tax office Tax office On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to approve General Fund Claims numbered 2902 through 2997 as presented by the County Auditor The Court next considered a request by the Robertson Electric Company for authorization to install a utility pole within the right-of-way of Bundick Road in Precinct 2 On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, -the Court unanimously voted to authorize the installation VOL-C-PAGIE 3-59 II COMMISSIONERS' COURT MEETING - OCTOBER 22, 1979 CONTINUED r 1 r V0LJ2_PAGE,,W L{ V On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to declare Tuesday, I October 23, 1979 as "BILL MOORE DAY" in Brazos County, Texas Commissioner Cooley advised the Court that a volunteer fire department was being organized,in the Welborn area and requested authorization to,accept bids and purchase a skid mount unit for the volunteer fire department It was the concensus of the Court that bids be taken The Court recessed at 10 30 A.M. to reconvene at 1 30 P.M. for the purpose of holding public hearings on the Revenue Sharing Budget for 1980 and the Proposed Budget for Brazos =1 F County. 1 30 P M The Court reconvened at 1 30 P M with the following citizens and officials in attendance 1. J r j r + r ~ 10 r r COMMISSIONERS' COURT MEETING - OCTOBER 22, 1979 CONTINUED trf I t r 5 The County Judge called the meeting to order and opened it the Public Hearing on the Revenue Sharing anticipated use of i^ Entitlement 11 and the Brazos County Budget for the year 1980 ti The Court received no comments from the audience or elected officials on the Revenue Sharing portion of the budget. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner } Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve the anticipated use of Entitlement 11 Revenue Sharing Funds. ~ The County Judge announced that the Court would continue , on the Public Hearing on the Brazos County Budget for 1980 and asked for comments from the audience. The County Judge recommended that the Budget be amended due to omissions or corrections due to clerical error as follows 1. Refund, Sundry - Change account title to Juvenile Probation - total amount of $3,000 , 2 Non-Departmental Group Hospital Ins - Increase by $230 - total amount of $230 3 County Court At Law Court Reporter - Increase salary by $3,695 - total amount of ,16,310 4 County Treasurer Office Supplies - Increase by $500 - total amount of $1,000 5 Tax Assessor-Collector Salary - Increase by $90 - total amount of $19,505 6 Brazos Center Re air & Maintenance - Decrease $10,000 total amount of 10,000 7. Pavilion Repair & Maintenance - Increase by $10,000 - total amount of $10,000 8. Adult Probation Repair & Maintenance of Equipment - , Increase by $500 - total amount of $500 9 Sheriff's Deputies Salaries - Increase by $14,713 - total amount of $133,148 ' 10 Sheriff's Department County Retirement - Increase to a total amount of $19,230 11. Sheriff's Department Social Security - Increase to a total amount of $17,195 11 12. Sheriff's Department Workmens Compensation - Increase to a total amount of $7,170 F. D Bennett, Vice President of the Brazos County Fire Fighters Association, requested the 1980 Fire Protection Budget be amended to include $78,794 for all of the volunteer fire departments E W. Sayers, Constable of Precinct 7, requested a car allowance for two additional deputy constables and that the car allowance for all four be set at $75.00 monthly. a~ I; ( . d®L.Q.PA+GE2uL t ' t F COMMISSIONERS' COURT MEETING - OCTOBER 22, 1979 CONTINUED rr ' B. V. Elkins, County Treasurer, requested the office supply portion of his budget be increased by $250. Bennett and David Morrison stated that the most cl \ L 1 t \ need for the volunteer fire departments was to put trucks in Lj Precinct 4 and 1, a communication system, and to equip the trucks in the field with an alert system Colonel Bennett " requested County support for maintenance of vehicles and gas- oline, f I I Iq + t t Commissioner Stasny stated that due to the many requests Q4 he was not in a position+,to vote on the proposed budget at this time He further stated that he felt salaries for all elected officials should be the same. Commissioner Cargill stated that he could not approve the proposed budget due to the increase of several offices Commissioner Cargill stated that he could vote for an across the board increase After discussion the Court proceeded to consider the various requests. 1 Commissioner Wilcox moved to increase the number of deputy constables receiving a car allowance to four (4) and set the monthly car allowance for all four at $50 each The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously. Holmgreen r presiding and Commissioners Bill J. Cooley Walter Wilcox H. L. Cargill W. A. Stasny II II in attendance when the following business came before the Commissioners' Court: r Motion was made by Commissioner r_nnI ray and seconded by Commissioner Cargill to authorize the County Judge to sign the necessary fencing and utility agreement, contractual agreement and papers relative to billings to the State for 90-10 reimbursements on State High- way 6 from Junction of State Highway 6 and Loop 507 at College Station South to Near Junction of State Highway 6 and Loop 508 at Navasota Near the Grimes County Line (except that portion out- side the City Limits). Question All voted for the Motion It is so ordered that the County Judge have such authority. Motion was made by Commissioner Cooley and seconded by Commissioner _Carciill that Brazos County waAves its right to establish values for the procurement of right of way on State Highway 6 from Junction of State Highway 6 and Loop 507 at College Station South to Near Junction of State Highway 6 Y® -PAGE ' VOL C.
