COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
SEPTEMBER 24, 1979
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in
the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas beginning at
10 00 A.M. on Monday, September 24, 1979, with the following
members of the Court present.
R J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding
Bill J Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1,
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2,
H L Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3,
W. A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4,
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk
The following citizens and officials were in attendance

On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner

Cargill, the minutes of the meetings held August 13, August
24 and August 27, 1979, were examined and approved without
change

The Court reviewed the Preliminary Plat of RANCHERO ACRES
in Precinct 3. After discussion Commissioner Cargill moved
for the approval of the Preliminary Plat subject to the follow-
ing conditions,
1 The developer change the name of the subdivision.
2. The developer add a statement on the Plat that the
subdivision enters on a substandard road

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried
unanimously.

The Court next heard a presentation by Davis McGill of
A. G. Edwards and Sons, Inc., who explained in depth the
services performed as financial advisors in connection with
!
bond issues.

On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
t
Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve the Public
Weighers Bond of Danny Boone in the amount of $2,500 with
`
American General Fire and Casualty Company as surety.

The Court next considered the following amendments to
!
the 1979 Budget,

1 $5,157 for operation and maintenance of the
f,
Pavilion and Rodeo arena.
2. $1,804 79 for supplies and equipment for the
Adult Probation office
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner

Cargill, the Court voted unanimously to approve the budget

amendments,
On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to pay $347.90 to the
;r
r
City of College Station and $353 45 to the City of Bryan for
fire calls for August, 1979.

The Court next reviewed the Final Plat of WOODMEADOW in

Precinct 1. After discussion Commissioner Cooley moved for

the approval of the Plat subject to the following conditions.

1, The developer complete the construction of the
roads to County standards,

2. Filing of a bond for tho maintenance of the roads,

3. Signature of the lien holder on the Plat or the
ll
filing of a Release of Lien by the lien holder,

The motion died for lack of a second, Commissioner Wiclox

On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court voted to disallow the increase.
The Court proceeded to consider the following Claims sub-
witted by the County Auditor for payment
General Fund Claims 2561 through 2649
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Stasny, the Court voted unanimously to pay the Claims as
submitted
The County Judge next officially reported the following
recommendations of the Physical Facilities Advisory Committee
as follows.
1 The Committee recommended the remodelling of the
courthouse in the present area
Rejected building a new courthouse on a new site.
3. Rejected the construction of a Parking garage and
recommended that the Court solve the parking pro-,
blem in the present area
4. The vote of the 27 members present were,
2 - voted to keep facility in present area and
build for a 10-year growth

',Commissioner Cooley stated that he felt the 20 year plan was

paramount and that the facility be kept in the present area
I
but did not necessarily mean remodeling the present courthouse y
r

building. He further stated that he felt a written recommen-
dation should be made by the Chairman of the committee and
that he would have difficulty in voting to remodel or tie on
to the present building.
