A Public Hearing on the increase of the 1979 tax rate

was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom of the Brazos County

` Courthouse on Tuesday, September 4, 1979, beginning at 5 00

P.M. as advertised in the Bryan Eagle on August 27, 1979 all
in compliance with the law with the following members of the

Commissioner Stasny opened the meeting and announced the

County Judge's absence due to the death of his brother, Joe
Holmgreen and asked for any comments or statements from the

The Court heard from Mr. C. A. Pope who asked how the

Court could Justify an 87 percent increase in his County
q~
taxes and if all property in Brazos County had been reappraised
_ this year.

The Court also heard from Charles Tanner who questioned
what the increase would be used for and stated that he had
spent some hours in the Courthouse that day and felt that with

better organization the existing manpower and financing could
y

asked for a motion to set the date and time for the official
setting of the tax rate. On motion by Commissioner Cargill,
seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted

to set Monday, September 10, 1979, at 10 00 A.M. as the date

and time to officially set the 1979 tax rate on all real pro-
t
perty in Brazos County, all in accordance with law
There being no further business to come before the Court
the meeting was adjourned at 5 40 P.M.
