SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 24, 1979
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in
1 the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at

9 00 A.M. on Friday, August 24, 1979, with the following
members of the Court present%
R, J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding;
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1,
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2,
H. L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3,
I, W, A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4,
The following citizens and officials were in attendance;
Bruce Wiseman KBTX-TV
John Morris The Eagle
Tim Raven KAMU-TV
Bill Davie KAMU-TV
Jeff Braun KAMU-TV
The County Judge called the meeting to order and stated
that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed

tax rate for Brazos County for the 1979 tax year,
The County Judge stated that the ad valorem tax rate for
the 1979 tax year had been set at $,98 per $100 assessed value
on all real property in Brazos County by the Tax Assessor-
Collector He further stated that based on expenditures to
date, and the necessary amendments to the budget that the $.98
tax rate would not be sufficient and recommended an increase

personnel, Commissioner Cooley moved to accept the Judge's
recommendation and proposed an ad valorem tax rate of $1 15 per
$100 valuation based on 20% assessed value representing a $.17
increase for the 1979 tax year. The motion was seconded by
{
Commissioner Cargill and carried unanimously,
There being no further business to come before the Court,
the meeting was adjourned.
