HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-07-30-1000AM-SpecialCOMMISSIONERS' COURT SPECIAL MEETING JULY 30, 1979 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas beginning at 10 00 A M. on Monday, July 30, 1979, with the following mem- bers of the Court present R J. Holmgreen, County Judge, presiding Bill J Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1, Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, H. L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3, W A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Frank Boriskie, County Clerk The following citizens and officials were in attendance. John Morris The Eagle Leigh McLeroy KAMU-TV Bruce Kates KBTX-TV Buddy Winn Tax Assessor-Collector Bill Davie KAMU-TV t~ h M1 The first matter to come before theCourt was the possi- bility of Brazos County's participation in the Central Appraisal District in accordance with S B 621 After thorough discussion of the matter and the recommendation of the Tax Assessor-Col- lector that Brazos County join such Central Appraisal District, Commissioner Cargill moved that Brazos County join the Central Appraisal District The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously The Court next considered the manner in which ad valorem taxes on real property be computed for BrazosCounty and the exemption for persons 65 years of age and over. The motion 11 was seconded by Commissioner Cooley with all voting, voted ~'Aye 1 On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner ' Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the statement of Thurmond and Stuart in the amount of $96,075 00 for work com- i, pleted at the Brazos Center ~Id 1 R ± v The County Judge requested authorization to submit a grant ` " application to the Criminal Justice Division for funding for i a Court Administrator Project in the amount of $43,651 00,, i $42,414 00 to be grant funds, $1,237 UO to be local funds. Such project to be a five year decending grant On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the { E I Court unanimously voted to authorize the Count; Judge to sub- mit such application on behalf of Brazos County r' 1 i ^ ~ There being no further business to come before the Court, t ; the Couulty Judge announced the meeting adjourned 1 !
