II~ COMMISSIONERS' COURT I REGULAR MEETING MARCH 12, 1979 lot A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos 1 County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10.00 A.M. on Monday, March 12, 1979 with the following members of the Court present: R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge, prosidingi Dill J. Cooloy, Commissionot of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; II. L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Haivy Bill Meeks Preston Jones Jamie Aitken KBTX-TV The Eagle KTAM Kling Engineering League of Women Voters Friends United Church of Christ County Treasurer Auditor Citizen WTAW The Eagle KAMU-TV KAMU-TV On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the minutes of the meetings held February 12, and February 26, 1979 were examined and approved without change. The Commissioner's Court having selected the County Depository for the biennium of 1979-80, proceeded to approve the Depository Contract from First National Bank On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the vote was carried unanimously On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve and adopt a con- tract with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for services to be performed by the members of the organization for Brazos County. I On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimoisly voted to pay the following State- ments for work completed at the Regional Multi-Use facility (Brazos Center). 1. Thurmond & Stuart in the amount of $139,122.00 2. Wilson Stationary & Printing Company in the amount of $63,804 84 3. Soil Mechanics Incorporated in the amount of $45.00 4. Central Distributing Company in the amount of $2,062.02 The Court next considered a request from Friends United Church of Christ for exemption from ad valorem taxation on 4.5 acres at the corner of FM 2818 and Southwood in College Station. On recommendation of the Tax Assessor-Collector, it was the con- census of the Court that no action be taken on this request until such time as the church is actually constructed and that the church be notified to resubmit a request at that time. VOL-aPAGEAAcr f 1 ~ r ~ a 1 1 4 1 r I C COMMISSIONER'S COURT MEETING - MARCH 12,, 1979 COyq PJ4GC__'" The County Judge advised the Court that he had been notified by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of the mandatory maternity benefits to be included in all Group Hospitalization Plans due to the Pregnancy Disability Amendment to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to be effec- tive May 1, 1979. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to pay the Statement of Boswell, O'Toole, Davis & Pickering in the amount of $775.57 for legal services. Next to be considered was the payment of Fire Calls to the City of Bryan in the amount of $714.82 and to the City of College Station in the amount of $1,373.34 for the month of February 1979. Commissioner Wilcox moved that the Fire Calls be paid Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously. After reviewing the Plat, the Court discussed the order passed at the meeting held February 26, 1479, requiring the developer of Oak Trails to file a Letter of Credit for the completion of Lakefront Drive in Forest Lakes Subdivision and all roads in Oak Trails. Commissioner Wilcox moved to recend I condition number one (1) of the Order approving the preliminary Plat that reads as follows. "1 A Letter of Credit for the completion of Lakefront Drive in Forest Lakes and all roads in Oak Trails." The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously. Commissioner Cargill their moved to approve the Plat as submitted subject to the completion of all roads in Oak Trails or the filing of a Letter of Credit for the completion of the roads The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously There being no further business the Court adjourned.
