Courtroom in the Brazos County Courthouse, Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 21, 1978, with the following members of the Court present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, H. L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriski.e, County Clerk, The following Citizens and Officials were present: Bruce Kates, KBTX-TV, Preston Jones, KAMU-TV, Steve Stites, WTAW, Michael Reed, KTAM-RADIO, John Morris, THE EAGLE; Glenn Cook, BUDC, Linda Gibson, BUDC; R. J. Holmgreen, County Judge Elect; Buddy Winn, Tax Assessor Collector; Bradley Smith, County Court at Law Judge; Bobby H. Yeager, Sheriff; Sam M. Saxon, Jr., Department of Public Safety, Bryan; W. D. Burley, District Clerk, Mike West, Sam Houston State University - O.T.S.; D. D. Williamson, St. Department of Highway & Public Trans. Godfrey, Probation Department; The Court examined and approved the minutes of the meeting held December 11, 1978, without change. Commissioner Stasny next requested time to speak on a nonagenda item He thanked Judge William R. Vance for 11 years and four months of service to Brazos County as County COMMISSIONERS' COURT DECEMBER 21, 1978 Judge and presented him, on behalf of the Commissioners' Court, a Centennial Plate issued by Texas A&M University on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 1976. Williamson as the Project Director on both contracts. The motion was made by Commissioner Cargill and carried unanimously The Court, having previously received and opened proposals for independent audit of all county funds for the year 1978, proceeded to consider the award of the contract for such services. The County Judge noted that he had received and reviewed the billing rates for the personnel of Martin, Slovack and Thompson as requested at the previous meeting. Commissioner Stasny moved to accept the proposal of Martin, Slovack and Thompson for the total amount not to exceed $19,500 00 plus out of pocket expenses On motion by Commissioner Cooley the Court unanimously voted to pay $1,088 32 to the city of College Station and $582 39 to the City of Bryan for fire calls for the month of November, 1978, and City of Navasota $383 50 for the entire year of 1978 VOL a._PAGEE L fi t V®L.6 PAGELIV. Y, f r The Court next discussed a Resolution Agreement between Brazos County and the Brazos Valley Development Council for the purchase of a 4 channel, 110 W Mobile Radio for the Sheriff's Office for a total amount of $1,406 00. The Court was advised that this purchase was made possible through the Criminal Justice Council and that the County's portion of the cost would be approximately 25% of the cost On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to authorize the County Judge to execute the Resolution Agreement on behalf of Brazos County. The Court proceeded to consider a grant application to the Criminal Justice Division and contract with the International Communications Corporation for the purchase and maintenance of one (1) highspeed video terminal device for the Sheriff's Department Such grant to be 85% funded by the Criminal Justice Division and 15% funded by Brazos County for the first year and 100% funded for maintenance thereafter or approximately $1,260 per year until January 1982. After much discussion and on motion by Commissioner Cooley seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to authorize the County Judge to execute the Application on behalf of Brazos County The Court next discussed Requests for Change in Status for the following employees Mary Lynn Smally, Justice of Peace, 4, Office Jane Moore, County Clerk Office Joe Olexey, County Shop Jerry Catrone, County Shop Jack B. Minnox, Sheriff's Department Timothy N. Regini, Sheriff's Department C.
