SPECIAL MEETING

A meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County,
Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom'in the Brazos
County Courthouse, Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10.00 A. M. on
Monday, November 13, 1978, with the following members of the
Court present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Bill J Cooley, Commissioner, Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner, Precinct 2;
H. L Cargill, Commissioner, Precinct 3,
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner, Precinct 4,
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

The first matter to come before the Court was to canvass the
results of the recount of the Brazos County vote for the offices of
United States Senator and Governor as submitted by the appointed

agent, Bruce W. Robeck. The results presented and canvassed were

the Court accepted the above count as the true and actual results
of the votes cast for the office of United States Senator and Governori
and authorized the County Clerk to certify the results to the I

The Court next considered the appointment of a Veterans'

Service Officer to fill the vacancy created by the death of Mr.
Sweeten. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commis-
sioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to appoint Mr. Walter
C. Dandridge as the Veterans' Service Officer at a salary of $3.00
per hour to work two day a week.
on motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner
Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to authorize Mr. Dandridge
to attend a seminary for newly appointed Service Officers and to

pay his expenses while attending. 1

On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay $657.61 to the City
of College Station and $973.25 to the City of Bryan for fire calls I

for the month of October, 1978.
The Court next considered for payment the statement of Boswell,
O'Toole, Davis and Pickering in the amount of $3,586.40 for legal
services in connection with the Civil Action Suit filed in Federal
District Court on the County's Reaportionment Plan. Such statement
being for services through October 19, 1978. On motion by Commis-
stoner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously
voted to amend the Budget for the Commissioner Cour4 account number
12-001-611, in the amount of $4,000 and to pay the statement.
The Court next considered Requests For Change In Status for
the following employees
W. W Torrey, District Attonrey's Office
Otha Norris, Janitorial 'I
Brenda Joyce Lamar, Non Departmental
Walter C Dandridge, Veterans' Service Officer j
Elizabeth Marino, County Clerk's Office
Bonnie Mitchell, County Clerk's Office

On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill,
the Court unanimously voted to approve the Requests as submitted.
The Court next discussed a proposed amendment plan to the
hospitalization plan for County employees. After discussion of the

changes in benefits and rates and comments from the audience,
Commissioner Cooley moved to accept the proposed plan for hospital-
ization. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cargill and car-
ried unanimously.
The Court next discussed an appointment to fill the vacancy
in the office of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 2. The
County Judge noted that Carolyn Hensarling had run for that office
in the Democratic Primary Election and in the General Election and
received the most votes cast for that office and was seeking the
appointment. Commissioner Cooley moved to appoint Carolyn Hensarling
to the office of Justice of Peace, Precinct 4, Place 2, effective
immediately, and to set the salary at $13,250 annually and to amend
the 1978 Budget accordingly. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Cargill and carried unanimously,whereupon the County Judge announced
Carolyn Hensarling to be the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place
2, upon the filing of the proper bond and taking the oath of office.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to pay Claims number 3247
through 3356 out of the General Fund.
There beingno further business, the Court adjourned.
