A meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County,
Texas, was held in the Commisisoners' Courtroom in the Courthouse

in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Mon-

The first matter to be considered by the Court was the payment
of fire calls for August, 1978, and for the payment of skid units
I
for Precinct 1 and 2 volunteer fire trucks. After discussion of
the money available in the fire protection budget, Commissioner '
I
Cooley moved to amend the budget by increasing the amount of the
budget by $10,000 and to pay $1,966.42 to the City of College Station
and $3,150 to the City of Bryan for fire protection for August and
,
to pay for the two (2) skid units for the volunteer fire trucks

'and by so doing to disregard line items of the budget. The motion
was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox with Commissioners Stasny,

Wilcox, and Cooley voting AYE. Commissioner Cargill voted NO.
The Court next discussed the following amendments to the 1976
,

$7,000 to accommodate the contract between Brazos County
and the Arts Council of Brazos Valley.
$5,215.76 to accomodate the amended contract with the Texas
Department of Hunam Resources for Child Support Services.
$24,121 to the Juvenile Probation Department to make up the
difference in anticipated funds available from the Adult
Probation Fees.

$10,000 to fire protection to accommodate anticipated ex-
penditures for the balance of the year.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox,
the Court unanimously voted to approve the above amendments to the
1978 Budget.
' The Court next heard a presentation by Judge J. Bradley Smith,
Judge of the County Court-At-Law regarding the submission of an
application to the Criminal Justice Division for a Court Adminis-
trator Project for the 85th District Court and the County Court-At-
Law. After much discussion of the project, Commissioner Wilcox
moved that the County Judge be authorized to submit such application
on behalf of Brazos County. Such application to be a 1008 grant
for a three year period. Motion was seconded by Commissioner
Cargill and carried unanimously.
The Court next considered Requests for Change In Status for
the following employees.

Commissioner Cooley moved to approve the Requests that the
Court had jurisdiction over. The motion was seconded by Commiss-
ioner Stasny and carried unanimously.

The Court reconvened at 1.30 P. M.
and considered the follow-
ing plats:
y .
1. Preliminary Plat of VALLEY RIDGE, PHASE III, in Precinct
1. After careful review of the plat and on motion by
Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox,
the Court unanimously voted to approve the preliminary
~i plat subject to the following changes-
"'4, a. That the developer show drainage easements along
'r the lot lines.
i b. That the developer show the utility easements on
the plat.
t ,
c. That the developer show the lot known as the Kidwell,
Home as a part of the plat.
d. That the developer name the road leading off Valley
Circle.
2. Final Plat of QUAIL RUNN, PHASE II, in Precinct 1. Comm-
issioner Cooley moved to approve the plat subject to
the following additions to the plat:

a. That the developer show drainage easements between
lots 4 and 5 and 12 and 13.
b. That the developer change the name of Bobwhite Circle.
c. That the approval be subject tothe approval of the
planning and zoning commission of the City of College
Station.

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cargill, with Commissioners
Cargill, Wilcox and Cooley voting AYE. Commissioner Stasny voted
NO.
At this time the Court retireito executive session to discuss
pending litigation.
The County Judge announced the Court was once again in open
session whereupon Commissioner Cooley moved that the Commissioners'
Court employ the services of the law firm of Boswell, O'Toole,

Davis and Pickering to represent the County's interest in the law
suit that had been filed in Federal Court in Houston on the County'e
redistricting plan and submission to the Justice Department.
