COMMISSIONERS: COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 11, 1978
I
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom, Brazos
County Courthouse, Bryan, Texas, on Friday, August, 11, 1978,
with the following members of the Court present:

William R. Vance, County Judge, Presiding;
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner, Precinct 1; ,
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner, Precinct 2;
. H L. Cargill, Commissioner, Precinct 3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner, Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. ,

The following citizens and officials were present:

Dick Munday, Constable, Precinct 4
George Hamilton, School Teacher, Son of the late Sheriff
Bobby H. Yeager, Sheriff's Department j
Morris Hamilton, Jr.,
Michael Adams, Sheriff's Department I1
' Roland Searcy, District Attorney
! The District Attorney advised the Court that he had been

in contact with the Attorney General's office regarding the death
of J. W. Hamilton, Sheriff to determine the proper course of act-
ion in regard to the duties to be
parried on by the employees of ,
I
the Sheriff's Department. His advice to the Court was that Bobby j
H. Yeager, who had recently been appointed Chief Deputy by the late ~
j Sheriff, be appointed "Acting Sheriff" until such time as the Court
could decide what action they wantld to take in the appointment of
a Sheriff.
The County Judge stated that this was his feeling also since j

no official could be taken by the employees of the sheriff's depart-1
ment at this time.

On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
I
Cargill, the Court unalmously voted to appoint Bobby H. Yeager, as
! "Acting Sheriff" and to approve his bond in the amount of $5,000
and to authorize the County Judge to swear in all of the deputies
i to serve under the "Acting Sheriff".
There being no further business the Court adjourned.
