The first matter to come before the Court was a Minute Order
from the Department of Highways and Public Transportation for
the construction of the extension'of FM 60 from State Highway 6
Expressway, northeast to FM 158 for a distance of approximately
1.7 miles. After careful consideration of the County's obligation
in this matter Commissioner Cooley moved that the Minute Order
be passed and authorize the County Judge to execute it on behalf I,
of Brazos County. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny
and carried unanimously. ;
Commissioner Cooley next requested authorization to estab-
lish load limits on Roack Prairie Road in Precinct 1 and moved
to call a public hearing for that purpose at the earliest possible
time. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cargill and carried

unanimously.

On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to pay the annual dues of
Brazos County in the amount of $100 to the County Judges and
4
Commissioners Association of Texas.

Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to pay the statement of Soil
I
Mechanics, Inc. in the amount of $81.00 for testing work at the
Regional Multi-Use Facility.
On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the statement of
Thurmond and Stuart in the amount of $177,869.70 for work completed
at the Regional Multi-Use Facility.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded'by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to approve the Public weighers
bond of J. D. Conlee, N. M. Clary, Richard McHenry, Weldon J Smith,
all in the amounts of $2,500 with United States Fidelity and
Guaranty as surety.
The Court next considered a request fromthe County Auditor
for authorization to destroy outdated papers, cancelled checks
and other records all to be ten years old and older. On motion
by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court
unanimously voted to grant such,request and to authorize the County
i
Auditor to destroy the records.
The next matter to come before the Court was the approval of
a Property Management Agreement in connection with the Regional
Multi-Use Facility. Such agreement stating that Brazos County
would retain title to the property and that it be devoted to public
use. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to authorize the County Judge
to execute the agreement on behalf of Brazos County and ordered its
filing in the proper records of the County Clerk's Office.
On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to approve and adopt a contract
with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for services to be
performed by the members of the organization for Brazos County.
Brazos County Precinct 3, having previously advertised for
bids for a motor grader advised the Court that there had been two

bids received and requested that they be considered at this time.

Plains Machinery company bid $51,521 for a Gallion T500 motor

grader. Mustang Tractor Company bid $53,848.00 for a catapi.llar
G120 motor grader. The bids were referred to Commissioner Cargill
- for further consideration at this time to be considered again at
the 1:30 session.
The Court next considered bids received for fire fighting
,
equipment for Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department and Precinct 2
r - Volunteer Fire Department. The following bids were received:
Fire Fox bid $6,905.00 for a unit on wheels and
$6,056.00 fOr a skid unit
l Claude Wright bid $6,056.00 for precinct 2
$6,272.55 for precinct 3
W. A. Neal bid $41150.00 for both precincts.'
After consideration of all equipment bid, the bids were referred
t to Dr. K. White, Fire Chief for Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department
for evaluation and recommendation. Bids to be reconsidered at the
1:30 P. M. session. '

On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by commissioner Wilcox,
the Court unanimously voted to approve the Changes as presented. {
The Court next discussed the hiring of a Director for the
Regional Multi-Use Facility. The County Judge recommended and moved i
to advertise for a Director and to interview for hiring one effective
July 1, 1978. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and '

On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay $1,991.45 to the ; i
City of College Station for fire calls made for the month of May, 1978.

Royce Watson, representing the Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department
and Precinct 2 Volunteer Fire Department presented the Court with +
a petition signed by residents in the two precincts regarding
the reallocation of funds for fire fighting.

Final Plat of Wood Lake Subdivision in Precinct 1.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to approve the plat
subject to the following amendments
a. Addition of drainage easements on all cul-d-sacs.
b. Addition of the name of the creek on the plat.
C. Filing of bond for the road construction.
Next to be considered were applications from Producers Gas
I

Company for authorization to cross county rights-of-way with trans-
mission lines and to lay transmission lines in the rights-of-way
I
of Koppe Bridge Road and Batts Ferry Road. After much discussion
~I
authorization was unanimously givaz to cross county rights-of-way
subject to the following conditions
1. All lines must be 1.4 feet minimum under all county roads.
2. All lines must be cased to 80 feet width under all roads, i
(40 feet from center line) except where special author- I
i.zation is given by the Commissioner.

The County Judge moved to approve the application for installation

and to accept the funds offered for the use of the right-of-way and i

Road by December 31, 1980. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Cooley, with the County Judge and Commissioners Wilcox and Cooley
voting AYE. Commissioners Cargill and Stasny voted NO, whereupon
,
the County Judge announced the motion carried and the funds to be

accepted and the application to be approved.
The Court next heard from Commissioner Cargill concerning the

i
bids received for the purchase of a motor grader for Precinct 3.
Commissioner Cargill recommended the purchase of the Catapillar
I
motor grader from Mustang Tractor Co. and so moved stating that
i
he felt it was the best bid received for the following reasons:
I ,
1. Better performance and dependability in past performances
2. Better service when repairs needed
3. Likelihood of higher value at the end of similar use.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously.
The Court next discussed the purchase of fire fighting equipment
for Brazos County. After hearing from Dr. K. White on the equipment
'
bid by W. A. Neal Associates Commissioner Cargill moved that the
l
County purchase the necessary equipment from that company. At this
, i
time Commissioners Cooley and Stasny requested authorization to take
advantage of this bid price and purchase equipment at the same time
as the other Commissioners. Unanimous approval was given for the
additional purchases. The motion to purchase the equipment was
seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously. This action
was for the purchase of six units, one for Precinct 1, two for Pre-
cinct 2 with the option to purchase a third at a later time, one for
Precinct 3 and one for Precinct 4.

The Court next heard a report by Johnny Hudson on the Traffic
Engineering Study that is being done for Brazos County in connection
with the Cities of Bryan and College Station.
There being no further business, the Court adjourned
