M. on f Monday, April 10, 1978, with the following members of the Court present. William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; ' Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2, H. L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3, W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. I The Court received and ordered filed as submitted the following reports for March, 1978: r W. T. The County Judge noted that bids had been received and considered in February and referred to the County Auditor for further study and recommendation and as a result of that action new bids were requested and received from the following suppliers: Precision Printing and Office Supply Advanced Business Equipment Engineering and Office Equipment News Office Supply After reviewing the bids and much discussion Commissioner Stasny moved with Commissioner Cooley seconding the motion to refer the bids back to the County Auditor for evaluation and recommendation. Next to be considered was a change order for furniture for the Regional Multi-Use Facility presented by Jack Cumpton, Architect. After discussion Commissioner Stasny moved to amend the contract and to approve the Lhange order as follows 1. Modify the number of 899 model 22SWG chairs at $34.32 each to 900 model 22SG chairs at $26.40 each for a total difference of $7,093 68. 2. Substitute 164 model 22STO-09 chairs at $58.41 each for 164 22ST chairs at $44.88 each for a total difference of $2,218.92 3. Purchase an additional 185 model 22SG chairs for $26.40 each for a net contract change of $9.24. t Motion was seconded by Commissioner W11COA and carried unanimously. r VOLILPAGE 1, l( , /1 e PAGE1 1 I I 1 I ~ f On motion by Commissioner Cooley', seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to pay the statement of Thurmond and Stuart in the amount of $61,027.20 for work completed 7 at the Regional Multi-User Facility. The Court next discussed all proposals for oil and gas leases on County property. Commissioner Cargill moved to accept the f proposal of Getty Oil Company. The motion was seconded by Comm- issioner Cooley with Commissioners Cargill, Cooley and Stasny voting AYE. Commissioner Wilcox voted NO whereupon the County Judge requested Charles Decker, with Getty Oil Company, to submit a lease agreement for final consideration by the Commissioners' Court at a later meeting. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to pay the final statement of Page Southerland Page in the amount of $3,600 for services in connection with the Jail Study. I I Aext to come before the Court were requests to lay utility lines in county rights-of-way as follows: I j f 1. Western Company of North America requested authorization to install an access driveway in the right-of-way of Industrial Boulevard in the Industrial Park in Precinct 4. 2. The Brazos County industrial foundation requested 4 authorization to install an 8 inch water line in the right-of-way of Independence Avenue and Industrial Boulevard in the Industrial Park in Precinct 4. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cooley i the Court unanimously voted to approve the two requests. I 3. Wixon Water Supply Corp. requested authorization to lay a 1 inch water line in the right-of-way of Grassburr road in Precinct 3. On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Cooley the Court unanimously voted to grant the request and authorize f the lay of the lines. 1 The next matter to come before the Court was the consideration of reallocation of the Road and Bridge Budget and to amend the budget to increase the precinct budgets by the unexpended amount at December 31, 1977. Regional Multi.-Use Facility, Claims 1 ~ Law Library Fund, Claims 18 through 23 Probation Fund, Claims 50 through 61 Bridge House, Claims 22 through 33 County Shop, Claims 72 through 94 Precinct 1, Claims 62 through 83 Precinct 2, Claims 75 through 101 Precinct 3, Claims 59 through 69 i t Precinct 4, Claims 58 through 80 On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, r the Court unanimously voted to pay the Claims as submitted by II the County Auditor. a ' On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to appoint Commissioner Cooley to the Board of Directors of the Tourtist and Information Bureau. The Court proceeded to canvass the results of the County J School Trustee Election held Saturday, April 1, 1978 and found the following results* Horace P. Dansby, Candidate at large received 3,500 votes Arthur J. Yeager, Candidate for Place 3 received 1640 votes. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to certify the results and ordered them recorded in the official Election Return Records in the County Clerk's Office. M. The Court reconvened at 1:30 P. M. and proceeded to consider the following plats: 1. Preliminary Plat of Fox Fire Phase III in Precinct 1. After careful review of the plat Commissioner Cooley moved to approve the plat subject to the addition of drainage easements on all cul-d-sacs. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cargill and carried unanimously, 2. Final Plat of Wixon Meadows in Precinct 2. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to approve the plat as sub- mitted. 3. Final Plat of Woodlands. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve the plat as submitted. I ' The Court next considered a request by the Sheriff's Department for authorization to advertise for the purchase of two patrol cars for the Sheriff's Department. It was the consensus of the Court that this request should be granted. } The Court proceeded to consider the appointment of a member to the Board of Directors of the Brazos Valley Development Council to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Lloyd Joyce. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted to appoint Richard Smith, Mayor of the City of Bryan to fill the vacancy. The Sheriff's Department next presented a request for author- ization for a deputy sheriff to attend Technology School at TAMU Police Training Institute. On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to grant the request and to authorize the deputy to attend the school and to pay the expenses of the course not to exceed $480.00.
