COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
JANUARY 23, 1978
A meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas
was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in
Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday,
January 23, 1978, with the following members of the Court present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner, Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner, Precinct 2;
11. L. Cargill, Commissioner, Precinct 3;
i W. A. Stasny, Commissioner, Precinct 4;
Frank Bori.skie, County Clerk.

The Court first heard a I presentation by Mr. Eddie Davis, with
Texas A & M University, requesting financial support for improve-
ments to the Easterwood Airport. These funds to be matched with
federal funds. After discussion, the County Judge moved, subject
to like action by the City of Bryan and the City of College Station,
to authorize the negotiation of a contract for airport services
between Brazos County and Texas A & M University in the amount
of $30,000 for the calendar year 1978, and to amend the budget to
appropriate such funds. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley
and carried unanimously.
On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to pay $2,014.92 to the City
of College Station and $1,950.00 to the City of Bryan for fire calls
for the month of December, 1977.

I On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner i
Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to increase account number 12-089-79

of the 1978 budget by $3,200 to accommodate the salary of Curtis Taylor,
County Agent.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox,
the Court unanimously voted
to approve the Change In Status of Employ-

The Court next discussed the allocation of space in the Courthouse
complex. The County Judge advised the Court that he had looked into
the possibility of leasing office space across Washington Street in the
Lester Building for the remainder of 1978. The Court was advised
thatthe office space could be leased for $150.00 per month. After
discussion, Commissioner Cooley made the motion to lease the office
space and to move the County School Superintendent into the office
space for the remainder of his term of office and to move the office
of the Child Services Attorney to the office currently being occupied
by the County School Superintendent. Motion was seconded by Commis-
sioner Cargill and carried unanimously.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the statement of Rio Road
Builders in the amount of $13,921.32 and the statement of E. E. Merril,
Architect, in the amount of $168.59. Both statements were fapl► work
completed on the parking lot at the Courthouse Annex.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill,
the Court unanimously voted to authorize the payment of Claims 124"
through 168 out of the General I Fund.
On motion by Commissioner Cargill, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox,
the Court unanimously voted to approve certificates of Correction
numbered 23892 through 23896 and certificate number 314 as presented
by the Tax Assessor-Collector for approval.

1:30 P. M.
'The Court reconvened at 1:30 p.m. and heard from interested cit-
izens regarding the operation of the Boonville Cemetery. No action
was taken on the discussion, but the citizens were advised that it
would be taken up at a later meeting.
The Court proceeded to consider the following Plats for approval:
1. Final Plat of Creek Ridge in Precinct 1. On motion by Com-
missioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court
unanimously voted to approve the final Plat subject to the
following changes:
a. Addition of 20 foot drainage easements.
b. Elimination of lot lines from right-of-way and decrease
size of adjoining lots.
C. Submission of Letter of Credit in the amount of
$15,310. _
2. Preliminary Plat of White Creek in Precinct 1 and the extra-
territorial jurisdiction of the City of College Station.
The Court was adivised that the preliminary Plat had been
approved by the Planning and zoning Department of the
City of College Station. On motion by Commissioner Cooley,
seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously
voted to approve the Plat subject to the following
amendments:
a. Designation of the Reserved Tracts as "A" and "B".

b. Elimination of lot lines from right-of-way and decrease
size of adjoining lots.
3. Final Plat of Resubdivision of Deerfield Estates, Section II
in Precinct 1 and the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the
City of College Station. On motion by Commissioner Cooley,
seconded by Commissioner Cargill, the Court unanimously voted
to approve the Plat subject to t13e following addition:
a. Addition of drainage easement along the common lot line
between lots 8 and 9.
There being no further business, the Court adjouned.
