i COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
f' JANUARY 16, 1978
A special meeting of;the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County
Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse
in Bryan, Brazos County,!Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday,
January 16, 1978, with the following members of the Court pre.wt:
William R. Vance, County Judge,-presiding;
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner, Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner,,Precinct 2;
H. L. Cargill, Commissioner, Precinct 3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner, Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The Commissioners' Court, having received the resignation of
Roland M. Searcy, Jr. as County Attorney on January 9, 1978, and
it being the duty of the Commissioners' Court to appoint a successor

to that office, met in executive session to consider an interview,
the following attorneys who made application for the appointment:
John M. Barron, Jr.
Wesley Hall
0. E. Elmore
John Hawtrey
Sarah Ryan
After interviewing all applicants, the County Judge announced
the meeting to be an open meeting and the Court proceeded to the
appointment of a County Attorney for Brazos County to fill the
vacancy created by the resignation of Roland M. Searcy, Jr.
Commissioner Cooley moved to appoint 0. E. Elmore as County
Attorney effective February 1, 1978. The motion died for lack of
a second.
Commissioner Stasny moved to appoint John M. Barron, Jr., effec-
tive immediately to served,until the next General Election. Motion-
was seconded by Commissioner Cargill with Commissioners Stasny,
Cargill, Wilcox and the County Judge voting AYE. Commissioner
Cooley voted NO; whereupon the County Judge announced the motion
carried and that John M. Barron, Jr. be duly appointed County Attorney
for Brazos County until the next Gerneral Election upon filing of the
proper bond with the County Clerk.
There being no further business, the Court adjourned.
