M. on Monday, October 24, 1977, with the following members of the Court present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner, Precinct 4; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner, Preicnct 2 H. L. Cargill, Commissioner, Precinct 3; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner, Precinct 1; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The following citizens and officials were in attendance: Mrs. Royce Watson, Precinct 3.Volunteer Fire Department Euna E. Ware, Precinct '3 Volunteer Fire Department Marilyn R. Cochrane, League of Women Voters -B. M. Ware, Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department W. R. (Bill) Klemm, Precinct 3,Volunteer Fire Department f ' Jane M. Smith, The Eagle John Godfrey, Probation Department M. J. Scarmardo Onie L. Lawson, Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department Robert L. Berwick, Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department Royce Watson, Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department o Scott Pickens Marla Gammon, KTAM Mary Nichols, County,Auditor Richard Smith James Smith, Chanel 15 News 'Suzanne Balck, KBTX-TV The Court heard a statut, report on the Precinct 3 Volunteer Fire Department given by Dr. W.•R. Klemm. Dr. Klemm reported that the Fire Department was close to being fully operational and that -there would be a fund raising dance held on November 1, 1977. Next to be considered was the payment of the County's share of the Indigent Hospital Fund. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded -by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the County's agreed portion of $8,100. The-Court next considered a request,by A. P. Boyett, Jr.,•Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 2 for permission to buy his pridr:service time between January,1968 and 1970:in the County's Retirement Program for a total amount of $397.46: On motion by Commissioner Wilcox seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to grant the reaue'st. PACE ( PAC Next to be discussed was the request of the Assistant County Treasurer for travel expense-for trips made to the Bank on County business. After discussion, Commissioner Cooley moved-to pay the request in the amount of,$20.52 and suggested the use of the services of the County Tax Assessor-Collector in making deposits in the future. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously. Next to be considered was the payment of fire calls made by the City of College Station for the month of September. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay'the fire calls in the amount of $1,604.96. Next to be considered was the Request For Change In Status for the following employees: Robert E. Sims, County Shop i Roy Elliott,-Precinct 2 On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the.Court unanimously voted to approve the Requests as submitted. j The Court next considered the adoption of a Resolution to limit axel-weights and gross weight of trucks hauling ready-mix concrete ,on County right-of-way. Commissioner Cooley moved to limit the I I weight to 12,000 pounds by single axle trucks, 36,000 pounds on I itandum axle trucks and 48,000 pounds gross weight. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried by a vote of three (3) AYES and one (1) NO. The Court next considered a Resolution to be exempt from The Firefighters Relief and[Retirement Fund for volunteer firefighters. Commissioner Cargill moved that Brazos County pass such a Resolution stating their desire to be exempt from Senate Bill 411 that created the Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund. Final Plat of VILLA FOREST in Precinct 4, and the extraterr- itorial jurisdiction of the City of Bryan. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill the Court voted unanimously to approve the plat as submitted. 2: 'Preliminary Plat of CEDAR RIDGE, PARSE I AND II (Master Plat) in Precinct 4; and the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Bryan. On motion by Commissioner Carqill, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve the plat subject to the following conditions: a. Addition of drainage easements on all cul-d-sacs. b. Clearing of all trees from all riqhts-of-way. c. Final Plat to be presented for approval as Phase I and Phase II at separate times. 3. Final Plat of WOODLANDS in Precinct 1 and the extraterritorial Jurisdiction of the City of College'Station. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to approve the plat subject to the -following corrections: la. Addition of the right-of-way dedication on Dowling Road. b. Filing of bond for the completion of roads made to the City of College Station and Brazos County. c.- Approval of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of. College Station. 4. Final Plat of RAVENWOOD was deferred until a later meeting due to no representative being present. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve the Tax Appraisal Contract between Brazos County and Pritchett.And Abbot,Tax Appraisers. The' Court next.heard the final report on the Jail Study made by Page Southerland Page and presented the written report that would be forwarded to the State Jail Commission and the Federal Clearing House for their review. This being the final step in completion of Phase I of the Grant received by Brazos County from the Cirminal Justice Division. Approval of~its,submission was deferred until the November 14 meeting to allow the Court time to study the report and discuss its con- tents. There being no further business, the Court adjourned.
