COMMISSIONERS' COURT
SPECIAL MEETING
JANUARY 26, 1977
A meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas,
was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom, in the courthouse in Bryan,

y, ginning at 2:00 P. M. on Wednesday, January
26, 1977, with the following members of the Court present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
H. L. Cargill, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The following citizens and officials were in attendance:

Jack Irick, Citizen
Howard Horn, Citizen
H. P. Dansby, Jr., Citizen
E. D. Davidson, Citizen
Milton Kustor, Citizen
Arthur Yeager, Citizen
Jerry Hogan, Twin City International
J. W. Strickland, Twin City International
The Court recognized a group of local farmers and ranchers who
wished to discuss the procedure for applying for agricultural ex-
emption through the Tax Assessor-4Collector's Office. Spokesman
for the group, Jack Irick stated that they objected to Tax Assessor-
Collector's requirement that a complete copy of their Federa~ Income
Tax Return be attached to the application for exemption when submitted.
The County Judge advised the group that the Court could take no re-
medial action and could not tell the Tax Assessor-Collector how to
run his office or what he could or could not require since he was
an elected official, and advised the group to petition the Tax Assessor-
Collector to use other means to make his determination for exemption.
The Court having advertised for bids for various equipment for
Brazos County, and for proposals for Liability Insurance'for the County
proceeded to consider the following bids received:

Bids for backhoe for Precinct 3:
Twin City International $16,906.00
Tom Ferry Company 17,534.00
Cen Tex Tractor 17,875.00
Plains Machinery Co. 17,982.50
Plains Machinery Co. 17,240.00
The above bids were referred to the Commissioner for study and re-
commendation.
Bids for electricial supplies to be used at the Livestock Pavilion:
No bids received
The Court advised the electrician to secure prices for the supplies
needed from various suppliers.
Proposals for Liability Insurance for 1977:
No proposals received, other than the renewal proposal by
the George Webb Agency'for the existing policy.
Commissioner Stasny moved that the existing policy be renewed with
the George Webb Agency and that the Agent be relieved,iof the requirement
of destributing the proceeds from the premium with the other Independent
Agents in the area. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Cooley and
carried unanimously.
Bids for typewriters for Brazos County for 1977:

On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by-,Commissioner Stasny, the
Court unanimously voted to accept the bid or IBM for the Correcting
Selectric without the dual pitch feature.
Bids for 100 watt mobil radios for Precinct 3 and 4:
Industrial Electronic, Inc. $1,090.00 each total $2,180.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley seconded by Commissioner Stasny,
the Court voted unanimously to accept the only bid from Industrical
Electronic,,Irc. in the total amount of $2,180.00.
Bids for Used tractor truck for Precinct 2: 'If
Twin City International $6,000.00
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cargill,
the Court unanimously voted to accept the only bid received from Twin
City International in the amount of $6,000.00

Bids for Automobile for Sheriff's Department:
Corbusier Chevrolet $5,177.14 - 4 door chevrolet
Pharis Wilkinson, Inc. 5,498.00 - Pontiac catalina
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Stasny;
the Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Corbusier Chev-
rolet in the amount of $5,177.14 for a four door chevrolet.
The Court again discussed the extension of Villa Maria Road.
Commissioner Stasny moved that no County money be spent on the Villa
Maria Road Extension to make it a curb and gutter road. Motion was
seconded by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously.
The Court agreed to meet in workshop session on Tuesday, February
8,.1977, at 2:00 P. M. for the purpose of discussing the County's
current Subdivision Regulations and making such changes as they feel
necessary to bring it up to current standards.
There being no further business, the Court adjourned.
