'.J r.:.• , • i COMMISSIONERS' COURT REGULAR MEETING MAY 12, 1975 A regular meeting`of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County,•Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday, May;12, 1975, with the following present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The minutes of the. previously held meetings were examined and approved without' change... 1 11 The Court received, approved and orderd filed as submitted the folowing reports for April, 1975: B. V. Boyett, Jr., Justice of Peace, Precinct 7, Place 2: Fines. . 1,080.00 Sheriff's Fees Constable, Precinct 7..... ~ Criminal Justice Fees (6,: 157.50 Total ,1, 877.50 i I 11237.50 I 'A' The first item to be considered was a request by St. Joseph Hospital for assistance'in the amount of $400.00 for the construction of a helipad on the property of St. Joseph Hospital. The Court was informed that the same request would be made of the two cities as well. After a discussion, Commissioner Wilcox moved that the money be granted to the hospital; subject to the determination of the County Attorney as to the legality of the contribution. M--)tion was seconded by Commissioner Sims and carried unanimously. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the Deliquent Tax Record for Brazos County covering the years 1939 to 19,73. The Court next discussed the payment of a Grade All pruchased by•Brazos County in the amount of $5,000.00. After a discussion Commissioner Sims moved that the Grade-All and maintenance be paid for out of the General Road and Bridge Fund until the next Budget is prepared. Commissioner Cooley seconded the motion with Commissioners. Sims, Cooley and Wilcox voting AYE, Commissioner Stasny voted NO. Next to be discussed were bids for chairs for the County Clerk and the County Treasurer's Office. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court voted unanimously to accept the low bid of Engineering and Office Supply in the amount of $55.00 per chair. Other bids submitted were from Kraft Furniture Company in the amount of $58.99 and News Office Supply in the amount of $80.00. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to accept the bid of IBM Corp. for a Selectric typeweriter in the amount of $549.00 for the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 1. Other bids received were from Otis McDonald's in the amount of $559.50 and Advanced Business Equipment, Inc., in the amount of $420.75. The Court proceeded to set the term of Court for all Justices of the Peace in Brazos County as prescribed by law. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted unanimously to set the regular term of the Justice Courts to commence on the first Monday of each month throughout the year. `Z 4 5 The county Judge presented the next matter for discussion only, whereby'the County would take charge of the entire financial accounting for the Health Unit and the Civil Defense Office. The method suggested being that Brazos County would pay the appropriate employees and the expenses of the operation of each office with reimbursement from the two cities for their pro rated share. County Attorney, Roland Seracy reported that he had talked with the regional attorney for the Department of Public Welfare concerning the establishment of an office for the collection of i i# f I i child support. If established, this office would be funded by the Department of Public Welfare at a rate of 75% the first year for all cases handled, and 75% the second year for all welfare related cases handled. In addition the County would be reimbursed 25% of the total amount of welfare related child support collected the first year and 10% of the total amount collected each year thereafter. Commissioners Wilcox and Stasny next requested permission to take bids on a refuse hauler for Brazos County. After much discussion, Commissioner Stasny moved that they be allowed to take bids on the refuse hauler and to negotiate with the Cities of Bryan and College Station for the use of their land fills. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox and carried unanimously. All members being present the Court proceeded to approve the following claims presented by the County Auditor for payment: Miscellaneous Funds - Claims 5 through 29 General Fund - Claims 960 through 1096 Road and Bridge General - Claims 21 through 32 Precinct 1 - Claims 73 through 88 Precinct 2 - Claims 115 through 133' Precinct 3 - Claims 69 through 86 Precinct 4 - Claims 44 through 55 On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioenr Wilcox, the Court voted unanimously to approve the payment of the foregoing claims.
