'SPECIAL MEETING - JANUARY 20, 1975
y
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of
Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom i Brazos County, ,
in Bryan, Texas,
beginning at 101:00 A. M. on Monday, January 20, 1975, with
ing members present:, the follow-
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Bill Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
W• A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie,
County Clerk.
The Court-first heard a proposal by the.County•Judge for a 7
pay raise for most of the Courthouse employees effective a %
11, 1975, The increase would be a total cost of 25 as of January
Count $ ,032.00 to Brazos
Y• Employees excluded from the raise are: Elected Officials;
all toher employees who received at least 17% effective January
Extension Service employees paid only partly by Brazos County; Civil
Defense employees who are paid jointly by`Brazos County; Heal
employees who are budgeted separately; th Unit
3 Justices of the Peace raise
to $10,800.00; Constables; District Judge whose salary supplement
set by Statute. is
The justification for the proposal of the 7% increase
is to bring salaries more in line with comparable loca
salaries; to avoid the possibility of a 1 and state '
possible freeze on wages; to
alleviate undue hardships placed on employees by the change to a two-
week pa y cycle; and to reward a group of dedicated and loyal employees.,
After considerable discussion and hearing a request that the Commiss-
ioners consider a petition that was presented to the Court mmiss-
employees be paid monthly, the County Judge moved that the 7% proposal
be granted retro active to January 11, 1975. The motion was seconded
by Commissioner Cooley and passed unanimously. The revised salary
schedule, as adopted is attached to these minutes and made a art
p r
hereof.
Commissioner Cooley moved that-all County employees be
paid on a
monthly basis, 12 times a year with no early draws allowed.
The motion-
died for lack of a second.
