REGULAR MEETING JUNE 10, 1974
A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was
c = held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Brazos County,
Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday, June 10, 1974, with the following
' present:
' William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
f Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct # 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct # 2;
' Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct # 3;

The minutes of the May 13th meeting were read and approved without change.
} The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted the following
reports for May: .

The Court next discussed the Planned Use Report of the General Revenue
'Sharing Fund. It appearing to the Court that Brazos County would receive an
estimated payment of $209,187.00 for the period of July 1, 1974 through June
30, 1975 the Court agreed that the money would be spent in the areas of Public
Safety, Environmental Protection, Libararies, Financial Administation and
Permanent Improvement and:to certify such report to be published in The Eagle.
A copy of such report is attached to theres minutes.
The County Judge announced that the County had received a new contract!-
from the Lone Star Gas Company and a schedule of the new Industrial Rates.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court
unanimously voted to adopt a resolution authorizing the County Judge to enter into
an agreement on behalf of Brazos County with the Brazos Valley Development Council
for the joint purchase-of certain equipment for the Sheriff's Department, not to
exceed 15%.of the total cost of $1,461.16. A Copy of such resolution being attached
to these minutes.
Mr. E. E. Merrill next reported to the Court that the estimated cost to
modify the solitary confinement cell in the Brazos County jail would be $2,500.00.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court
unanimously voted to authorize Mr. Merrill to accept bids for the completion of
such work with the moneys to be paid out of the permenant improvement fund.
On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims the Court
unanimously voted to authorize the County Judge to execute a Letter Of Intent to
to join the Texas Assocation of Counties Workmans Compensation Joint Insurance Fund.
Such enrollment to include all elected officials and 'county employees.
The Court next discussed the current method of purchasing supplies for the
County jail and determined that there might be a more economical method than than now
in use. The County Auditor was asked to contact wholesale copanies for bids on
supplies and the Allen School to determine the cost and possibilty of having the
meals for the jail catered by the School.
On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox the Court
unanimously voted to pay the expenses for Foster Care for the month of May in the
amount of $765.44.
On month by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox the Court
unanimously voted to pay the sum of $865.00 to the City of College Station for
fire calls for May.
The Court next considered bids for the purchase of a new car for the Sheriff's
Department. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox the
Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Allen Oldsmobile-Cadillac, Inc.
in the amount of $3,778.00 for a 1974 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Town Sedan. Other bids
iiere from Calbert-Logan, Inc. for $4,210.00 and $4,214.00.
The County Judge present the statement of Bryan Utilities Department in the
amount of $5,800.18 for re-location of utility lines along State Highway 21 west.
On motion by•Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Sims the Court unanimously
voted to pay such statement with payment to be made out of the West By-Pass Fund.

The Court next considered bids for a new calculator for the Tax Assessor-
Collectors Office. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seonded by Commissioner
Cooley the Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Monroe in the amount
of $351.55 for an electronic printing calculator. The other bid being from Mike
Mistovich Business Machines in the amount of $399.95.
` The Court next considered bids for a new tractor and shrewder for Precinct "r
,'3. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Stasny the Court '
unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Twin City International, Inc. in the
total amount of $7,050.00. Other bids being from T & T Implement Company in the @
amount of 8,331.00 and Cen-Tex Tractor Co. in the amount of $8,800.00.
On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Cooley the Court ;
unanimously voted to pay the statement of Ernest Gregg in the amount of $64.00 for
correcting the voters registration lists in Commissioner Precinct 1.
On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimdusl voted to

which have been properly filed and approved.
There being no further business the Court recessed until 3:00 P. M. at which'.'
time to reconvene for the purpose of considering the final report of Southwest
Planning Associatts.on the Brazos County Exposition Park.

WHEREAS, the Brazos-Valley
Development Council has been

WHEREAS, the Texas Criminal Justice Council has indicated a willingness to ;
assist, through the Brazos Valley Development Counc'

WHEREAS, as a condition for"eligibility for this
Justice Council requires participation b recipients grant, the Texas Criminal
` Bureau of Investigation uniform crime reporting and the Texas Department
of Public Safety crime reporting;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF BRAZOS
COUNTY, TEXAS:

agreement on' behal f of Brazos_ ' County with the Brazos Valley Develop-

meet for law enforcement purposes as listed on the attachment provided
the cost to Brazos County does not exceed 15% of the total cost
of said items. '

That the joint 'purchase arrangement as stated in Section 1 above
shall be effective only if the Sheriff of 'Brazos Count
in the Federal Bureau of Investigation uniform crime re n participates
