REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 8, 1974
A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse in
Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday,
April 8, 1974, with the following present-:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct # 1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct # 2;
Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct # 3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct # 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The minutes of the meeting held March 11, 1974 were read
and approved without change.
The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted
the following reports for . March; 19,74:

Commissioners Court - Regular Meeting, April 4, 1974
The Court next considered a resolution authorizing the application
for Federal Assistance for emergency medical services for the County, f,
On motion by Commissioner Stasn
Y. seconded by Commissioner Sims,
the Court unanimously.adopted the resolution and authorized the
application to the Department of Health Education and Welfare for
the purchase of the necessary equipment for an emergency communication
,systems and authorize Brazos County to supply the matching funds for
9 the County's share of such equipment. A copy of such resolution'is'

attached to these minutes and made a part of. 4
x On motion by Commissioner Sims and seconded by Commissioner Cooley
the Court unanimously voted to authorize John Godfrey, Probation
Office ,to hire part time held fora period not to exceed four (4)
days with the salar 'to be y paid out of the Probation Account'.
On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner S'tasny,,,
the Court unanimously authorized to pay Brazos County's share of the
Brazos Valley Development Council's 1974-75 budget in the amount of-
$4,950.00 with payment to be made out of the General Fund.
On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissionr Sims,
the Court unanimously voted to pay $1,110.00 to the City of College
Station for fire calls and $1,526.50 to the City of Bryan for fire
` calls.
0-motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Stasny,
the Court unanimously voted to pay the expenses of Foster Care for
March in the amount,of $746.00. `
The Court next reviewed a report by the Brazos Valley Development `
Council on the improvements of FM 1940. On motion by Commissioner
Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted
to approve the recommendations of the Brazos Valley Development,
Council on such project.
The Court'next considered the statement of E. E. Merrill-in the-,

amount of 1150.00 for services rendered' on the ,parking lot project

Commissioners Court - Regular Meeting, April 4, 1974........
r, Commissioner Stasny the Court unanimously voted-to pay such statement
out of the Revenue Sharing Fund.
The Court next considered the preliminary plat of SHERWOOD HEIGHTS,,
presented by Sherwood Heights Ltd. After a discussion the Court
unanimously approved the preliminary plat as submitted.
The Court next proceeded to canvass the votes from the Brazos
County School Trustee Election held on Saturday, April 6, 1974, and
found the following results:
Horace P. Dansby, Trustee At Large: 1,551 votes
Ben F. Lines, Trustee for Precinct 1 85 votes
Don Angonia, Trustee for Precinct 3 398 votes
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cooley,
the Court unanimously voted to declare the results of the election
as stated and certify the results to the Brazos County School
Superentendent.
On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissionr Stasny,
the Court unanimously voted to pay $33.00 to Dr. Luther G. Jones
{ for holding the Brazos County School Trustee Election at Precinct
1, in College Station, Texas.
Commissioner Sims next presented a petition to the Court signed
by interested persons in Precinct 3 asking that the bridge across
the Little Brazos River on Sims Lane be repaired and reopened for
public use. A copy of such petition is attached to and made a part
of these minutes.
The Court next discussed the case of Vince Campise vs J. W.
Hamilton. After hearing from the District Attorney and his assistant-
and on motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to authorize the appeal of
such case to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, New Orleans, La.
The Court next hear a request from J. W. Hamilton, Sheriff,,to
modify the isolation facilities of the Brazos County jail. On
motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the
court unanimously voted to employ E. E. Merrill to inspect such
facilities and report to-the Court at a,later date the cost of
such modification.

t; Carter. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by.Commissioner'
1 Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve such plat subject'

On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted to '
pay~all bills which have been properly filed.and approved.
There being no further business, the Court adjourned.
The foregoing minutes were examined and approved in open

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Brazos County Commissioners' Court was given the joint
responsibility for establishing an emergency transportation service
for the citizens of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioners' Court is interested in improving the r"
overall emergency medical services system for the County; and
WHEREAS, the Brazos Valley Development Council is 'submitting a
regional grant application to the Department of Health, Education and
Welfare for an emergency communications system and equipment purchases;
and
WHEREAS, it is essential that ambulances as well as hospitals have,
:'.emergency communications equipment; 1i.
NOW9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Brazos County Commissioners'. ,
Court will supply the matching funds for emergency radios and other
necessary equipment,-to improve the emergency medical services system
for Brazos County, Texas. ,
THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED the 8th day of April l J74.
