M. on Monday, January 14, 1974, with the following present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Bill J. Cooley, Commissioner of Precinct # 1; Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct # 2; Randy Sims, Commissioner of Precinct # 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct # 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The minutes of the meeting held December 10, 1973-, were read and approved without change. The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted the following reports for December: B. V. Elkins, County Welfare Officer; W. T. Sistrunk, County Extension Agent; Curtis Taylor, Jr., County Extension Agent; Douglas Presley, County Extension Agent; Mable Walker, County Extension Agent; Linda 17cCormack, County Extension Agent; The Court received, considered and approved the following reports from County and Precinct Officers showing official fees of office collected and remitted to the County Treasurer according to duplicate copies of the Treasurers Official receipts atthached thereto: William R. The Court first considered the matter of setting the salaries t ' of all county employees for the year 1974. After appearance and J requests from several of the officials of the County concerning salaries, Commissioner Stasny moved to set all salaries as provided by the Budget for the year 1974 with the following changes: r County Judge ~s Secretary, Probation Office $13,500.00 N Clerk, J. P., Pct. 4, P1. 1 4.200.00 X 3,600.00 (3/4 time) Deputy County Clerk 5,100.00 Deputy County Clerk ' Jail Cook 5,100.00 = 3,640.00 The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sims and carried unanimously. ' The Court next considered a request from the District Judge that he be permitted to participate in Texas County and District Retirement System to the extent of that portion of his salary paid, by Brazos County, and that the County contribute the sum of $1,824.00, representing one-half of the amount which would have been paid into 7 such•retirement system had the District Judge been participating _ therein from the,beginning of the County's participation. A form of resolution required by the System was read and is attached to these minutes. The Court next considered a resolution authorizing the Texas County and District Retirement System to give-service credit to employees who left the employment of the County to enter the Armed Forces of the United States and then returned to the'County employ-,,, ment, a copy of which resolution is attached to these minutes. Commissioner Stasny moved that such resolution be adopted. The motion was seconded,by Commissioner Cooley and carried unanimously., On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Sims,, the Court unanimously voted to pay the sum of $845.19 for',expenses of Foster Care for the month of December, 19-73.. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to pay the George Webb Agency the sum of $12,590.93 for personal injury liability coverage for the coming year, payable as billed in quarterly installments, and to self-insure against property damage coverage as provided by the Texas Tort Claims Act, as amended. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court unanimously voted to accept proposals at the February meeting from prospective consultants for the development of the plan for the proposed Brazos County Exposition Park. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court unanimously voted to accept bids at the February meeting for remodeling work on the 2nd floor, Brazos County Court- house according to plan's and specifications prepared by E. E. Merrill, Architect. On motion by Commissioner Sims, seconded by Commissioner Cooley, the Court unanimously voted to retain the firm of Glen Brewer and Associates, Certified Public Accountants, to conduct an audit of all Brazos County funds for the year 1973, having heretofore received proposals for such work from interested firms. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by'Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the bond premiums for all County Officials. On motion by Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims, the Court voted to approve for filing the plat of TIMBERCREST ROADS submitted by J. B. Hervey, et al, with the understanding that the County would be under no obligation to build, construct, or maintain any of the streets or roads in said subdivision. The County Judge, Commissioners Cooley, Sims and Stasny voted AYE. Commissioner Wilcox voted NO. Commissioners Court - Regular Meeting, January 14, 1974 l were drawn as the Employee Grievance Committee for the year 1974: Milton Holland - Ira Lee Hawthorne - Cary Lee Johnson, Jr. Lee J. Fazzino and John W. Halsell as alternates The Court next unanimously set the following holidays for y the'coming year: Memorial Day Monday, July.4, Labor Day; Thanksgiving, Day and the Friday following, December 25, and January 1, 1975. On motion by Commissioner Wilcox, secondedby Commissioner Stasny,' the Court unanimously voted to accept the bid of Beal Ford'for a 1974 >sM Ford Pickup for Precinct 3 in the amount of $3,825.00.., t -The Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid,of Kraft r, Furniture Company for a Legal File Cabinet in the amount of $89.95-.---_'.-1 i The remaining bids were News Office Supply in the amount of $98.00 and Engineering and Office Suply in the amount of $99.00.1 5 The Court unanimously voted to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved.
