' SPECIAL MEETING - SEPTEMBER 24, 1973
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Br
azos County,
Texas, was held on Monday, September 24, 1973, at 10:00 o'clock,
A. M. with all members present.
The Court
first heard.from Mr. Sam Sharp, representing Mrs.
h Kathleen Masters, and after further discussion of the rights of way
in question, passed the matter until Mr. Sharp can - Provide further"

Motion was made by Commissioner Wilcox and seconded by Comm-
issioner Stasn} . •
that the Commissioners Court of Brazos County accept
the provisions contained in Minute Order No. 67969 passed by the ,,I
State Highway Commission on Se
ptember 5, 1973, for the i rov

Highway Department on the road described below and that',
r. Brazos County agrees to furnish all required right of way clear of,
obstructions and free of cost to the State:
A Farm'to Market Road extending from OSR, near Farm
to Market Road 1940, South to Farm to•Market Road
974, near Edge Community, a distance of approximately
5.0 miles.
The vote on the motion was as follows:
All present voted AYE; none voted NO, whereupon the motion-
was declared carried.
The Court next considered a proposal by the District Attorney,
,
W. T. McDonald,'Jr., concerning an application to the Criminal
Justice Council of the State of Texas for grant funds for a three
year period beginning January 1, 1974, for the employment of an =
Assistant Prosecutor and Stenographer and the purchase,of necessary
office equipment, whereby Brazos County would contribute 15%,of the
total cost of the project of $77,150.00 for the three year period.
After a discussion between the Court and the-District Attorne ,.arid \

The Court next considered the provisions of an agreement by
and between Brazos County, Texas, Bert Wheeler Beverage Stores, Inc.,
J. W. Lester, Jr., and Patricial G. Lester, R. H. Harrison, et al,
and Stuart Cole, concerning the acquisition of certain right of
way by Brazos County and the acquisition of certain lands for
development of an exposition center. After a discussion, and on
motion by Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Cooley,
the Court authorized the County Judge to enter into such agreement
on behalf of Brazos County.
The Court next considered the approval of the Application for
Establishment of a Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Site in Precinct
1 to be located off the Batts Ferry Road, three miles southwest of
Wellborn. The Court reviewed the application and upon motion by
Commissioner Cooley, seconded by Commissioner Sims, unanimously
voted to approve such application, and to appoint Chrisopher C.
Mathewson, PhD, CPG, P. E. as consulting and designing engineer
for the purpose of submitting engineering reports, plans and
specifications for supervision of construction of such Solid Waste
Disposal Site in Precinct 1.
The Court next considered bids for a storage cabinet for the
County Attorney's Office and on motion duly made, seconded and
unanimously carried, voted to accept the low bid of :News Office
Supply in the amount of $91.90.
The report of the Fire Marshall of the City of Bryan was read
and duly noted.
The Court next considered the advisability of purchasing addition-
al radio equipment for law enforcement activities other than the
Brazos County Sheriff's Department. Having received requests from
the Constable of Precinct 4, Constable of Precinct 7, The Texas Parks
and Wildlife Department and the Alcoholic Beverage Commission for
radio equipment to assit them in carrying out law enforcement acts.
Sheriff Hamilton advised the Court that such additional equipment
would be benificial to the over all law enforcement effort in Brazos
County. Commissioner Sims moved that Brazos County purchase four (4)
additional mobil units for the agencies named above at a cost of
,,$1,382.00 to Brazos County. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Cooley and carried unanimously.

Mr. McLeod of Texas Voting Systems, Inc. was present to-discuss'
}f the upcoming Constitutional Amendments Election. On motion by the,
1 County Judge, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimo '

h voted to employ Texas Voting Systems to handle
the election for a
completed project cost of $3,000.00.
On,motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by-Commissioner Wilcox,
r; the Court unanimously voted to approve the'filing of a road dedication
r of roads in OAKLAND LAKES SUBDIVISION, as recorded in Volume
` 319,'
page 24 of the Deed Records Brazos County, Texas, subject to the . ' T
stipulation that the County would not construct or in any way•,maintaiin'
the roads in said subdivision.
At the request of the County Judge, the Court set Monday, -
iY, October 22, 1973, at 10:00 A. M. as the date and hour for the pub
' lic
hearing on the Budget for Brazos County for 1974, and ordered the
,following notice be published in the manner required by law: '
NOTICE OF HEARING ON BRAZOS COUNTY BUDGET FOR 1974
Public notice is hereby given that pursuant to
action taken September 24, 1973, open hearing will be
held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse "
in Bryan, Texas, at 10:00 A. M. on MOnday, October 22,
1973, for consideration of the,1974 Budget for Brazos
County, Texas, submitted to the Court on October 8, 1973,
and now remaining on file in the office of the County
Clerk of said County, all in accordance with law.
Taxpayers and others interested are invited and urged
to acquaint themselves with said Budget during the time
it remains on file with the Clerk before the hearing.
At the conclusion of the hearing final action will
be taken by the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
f Texas, for the adoption of the Budget for 1974, as ,
I finally agreed upon.

Gentlemen:
As Judge of the Juvenile Court of this County,
I have inspected the detention facilities provided
for juveniles on the fourth floor of the Brazos County
Courthouse and find that such facilities•are suitable
for the detention of children, in accordance with the
provisions of Title 3, Section 51.12, and other
provisions of law relating thereto.
This certification is made in compliance with Section
.51.12 of said Title 3 of the State of Texas Family'
Code.
