The Commissioner's Court of Brazos County,, Texas, Convened--
in regular session, open to the public, at a regular term,of said

.,when, among other business, the following was transacted:
Commissioner Cooley introduced 'an-order and made a motion
that the same be adopted. The order was read in full and Commissioner
rims seconded the motion for adoption of the order. The-motion,
carrying with it the adoption of the order, prevailed by the
following vote:
AYES: Commissioners Cooley, Wilcox, Sims and Stasny and
the County Judge
NOES: None
The County Judge thereupon announced that the motion had
duly and lawfully carried, and that the order had been duly and
lawfully adopted. The order thus adopted follows:
WHEREAS, the Commissioner's Court of Brazos County, Texas
has been authorized and directed by the Coordinating Board Texas
College and University System, to call an election for the purpose
of establishing the Brazos County Community College District embracing

all the territory contained within the boundaries of Brazos County,
y, and electing a Board of Trustees therefor, and to vote a maintenance
tax therefor, in accordance with'Chapter 130 of the Texas Education
-Code as adopted by the 61st Legislature; and
WHEREAS, this Commissioners' Court is desirous of proceeding
with such election as requested and.as required by law; Therefore
BE IT ORDERED, ADJUDGED AND DECREED BY THE COMMISSIONERS'
COURT OF BRAZOS COUNTY, TEXAS:
Section 1: That all-of the facts recited in the preamble
` of this order are hereby found and declared to be true and correct.
Section 2: That an election shall be held in and throughout
Brazos County, Texas, on the 9th day of June, 1973, at which election r~?trN'

TEXAS EDUCATION CODE, A COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT TO BE
KNOWN AS THE BRAZOS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT, THE

Absentee voting shall be conducted by Frank J. Boriskie,

by posting a substantial copy of this order and by publication.`

AUTHORIZING FURTHER PROCEDURE IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A COUNTY COMMUNITY
COLLEGE DISTRICT EMBRACING ALL OF THE TERRITORY WITHIN THE
COUNTY OF BRAZOS ,
THE STATE OF TEXAS:
,COUNTY OF-TRAVIS
WHEREAS, the County Board of School Trustees of Brazos County, Texas,
has forwarded to this Board a petition signed by not less than ten (10) percent
of the qualified taxpaying electors of Brazos County, praying that an election '
be called within Brazos County for the purpose'of creating,the Brazos County
'Community College District, to be comprised of all the territory contained
within the boundaries of Brazos County, and, to elect a'Board of Trustees and
to vote a maintenance tax for said proposed community college district; and
qq WHEREAS, there has been filed with this Board, along with said petition,
a Certificate b the
• by Tax Assessor-Collector of Brazos 'County, Texas, finding
and determining that said petition is signed by not less than ten (10) percent
of the qualified taxpaying electors of Brazos County; and
WHEREAS, an Order by the County Board of School Trustees of Brazos County,
Texas, has been furnished, finding that the County Board of School Trustees of
Brazos County has reviewed the aforementioned petition and the supporting
certificate from the Brazos County Tax Assessor-Collector, and finds that the
petition is legal and genuine and complies with Section 130.035 of the Texas
Education Code; and
WHEREAS, this Board has considered the said petition and order and other
matters required and permitted in the statutes to be considered in passing upon
t the question of the establishment of the Brazos County Community College District,
.-,-','and further finds full compliance with provisions set forth in Section 130.031
and 130.032 et seq., Chapter 130, Vernon's Texas Codes Annotated - Education Code,
Acts of the 61st Legislature, in that:
a).• The proposed Brazos County Community College District had an assessed
County and State taxable property valuation of not less than
$30,000,000.00 in the year next preceding the filing of this petition, '
in fact $61,022,812.00; and
b)' The proposed Brazos County,Community College District had not.less than
three thousand (3,000) total scholastic population in the school year' _
next'preceding the filing-of this petition, in fact 11,500h number;'.

WHEREAS, this•Board has found that the petition and other supporting- '
documents comply with the policies, rules-and regulations of the Board (in
compliance with Article 291.9e-2, V.A.C.S.), and that information, data, and
other characteristics of said proposed Brazos County Community College District
as reflected therein, justify the establishment of a Brazos County Community
College District; that such establishment is feasible and desirable, and will
serve the needs of the State, the welfare of the State as a whole, as well as
the welfare of the community involved; and
WHEREAS, this Board has received advice from the Commissioner of Higher.,
Education concerning the facts alleged in said petition, supporting documents,
and the order of the County Board of School Trustees of Brazos County, Texas
(in compliance with Chapter 130 of the Texas Education Code as adopted by the
61st Legislature), upon the propriety of authorizing an election to be called,
in Brazos County for the establishment of the Brazos County Community College
District comprised of all the territory contained within the boundaries of
Brazos County, and to elect a Board of Trustees, and to vote a maintenance tax
and said advice is favorable to such authorization:
THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED BY THE COORDINATING BOARD, TEXAS COLLEGE AND
UNIVERSITY SYSTEM, that:
a) The authorization to call an election for the purpose of establishing
the Brazos County Community College District embracing all the
territory contained within the boundaries of Brazos County, and to
- elect a Board of Trustees, and to vote a maintenance tax is hereby
granted and further procedure in the establishment of the Brazos
County Community College District is hereby approved; and
b) The action of the Coordinating Board, Texas College and University'-.
System, authorizing such election shall be communicated through the
Commissioner of Higher Education to the Honorable County Board of
School Trustees of Brazos County, Texas, together with this order.:
PASSED, APPROVED AND MADE EFFECTIVE
