Bonds and further authorized the levy of an annual ad valorem tax on all
taxable property within the county for the payment thereof. Based upon
the total assessed valuation a levy of .06 cents is sufficient to retire
this issue. Additionally, on the 11th day of March, 1967, the people of
Brazos County authorized the issuance of $800,000.00 in Road Bonds and
further authorized the levy of an annual ad valorem tax on all taxable
property except the first $3,000.00 valuation of residential homesteads,
not to exceed .30 cents per one hundred dollars of valuation, for the pay-
ment thereof. On the 24th day of February, 1968, a bond issue in the amount
of $350,000.00 was authorized, payable from the proceeds of the Farm to
Market and Lateral Road Fund Tax, of which $250,000.00 of the bonds were
issued in 1968 and $100,000.00 in 1969. Based upon the total assessed
valuation excluding the first $3,000.00 valuation of residential homesteads,
a levy of .11 cents is sufficient to retire the 1967 series, a levy of .06
cents is sufficient to retire the 1968 series, and a levy, of .02 cents to
retire the 1969 series.
CONCLUSION
The within budget should be accepted by the Commissioners' Court, filed
with the County Clerk, and a public hearing set thereon. I urgently
recommend that this budget be finally approved and adopted in its present
form at the conclusion of these statutory hear' gs.
