The Court next received a certification by the County Clerk
of Brazos County pertaining to a Petition for Local Option Election
under the Texas Liquor Control Act, a copy of which certfication
is attached to theres minutes. On motion by Commissioner Stasny,
seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to call
such election for Tuesday, November 7, 1972, to be hald in all
precincts at the same time and with the same election personnel as
the General Election for Brazos County, Texas, and it is so ordered.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Nolan the Court unanimously voted to pay the final balance to
R & R Marble Company of Houston in the amount of $4,723.26 for
repairs to the exterior marble of the Courthouse, and to E. Earl
Merrill, Jr., Architect, in- the amount of $175.60 for supervision
of the work.
..On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court ovted unanimously to pay Kustom Signals,Inc. the
sum of $1,785.00 for the purchase of a radar unit for the Highway
Patrol, such payment to be made from the Road and Bridge Fund.
On motion by Commissioner Nolan, Seconded by Commissioner
Stasny the Court unanimously voted to approve a Publc Weithers Bond
by John Rankin Mahan, with American Employers Insurance Company
as surety.
On motion'by'Commissioner Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner
Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to approve for filing a re-
plat of a portion of Lone Oak Acres, submitted by Fort McDonald.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Court ovted
to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved.
There being no further business the Court adjourned.
SPECIAL MEETING - OCTOBER 23, 1972
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
o clock P. M. with all members present .
Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Brazos County
Courthouse, Bryan, Texas, on Monday October 23, 1972, at 2:00

On motion by Commissioner Nolan, seconded by Commissioner
Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to appoint Joe R. Barron as
Presiding Judge of Central County Station for the Electronic
Voting System to be used in Brazos County for the 1972 General
Election.
On motion by Commisioner Wilcox, seoonded by Commissioner
Nolan, the Court unanimously voted to designate the Texas Data
Center, Incs. as the Central Accounting Station for the 1972
General Election.
The Court next considered the request of Constable E. W.
Sayers for-the appointment of a unit of twenty reserve deputy
constables. After hearing from several members of the public and
the County Attorney, Commissioner Porterfield moved that such
reserve unit be authorized, provided that the deputy constables
serve at no cost of Brazos County, and provided that no liability
to Brazos County resul from the act of any deputy constable. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Nolan. Commissioners Nolan,
Wilcox and Porterfield voted aye, Commissioner Stasny and the County
Judge voted no. The motion was declared carried, and it is so
ordered.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
PTO lan, the court unanimously voted to approve the estimate of
Arco Pipeline Company of $28,512.65 for the relocation of the 10"
pipeline crossing of FM 2818 (West by-pass), Brazos County, Texas.
The Court next considered a proposal by the City of College
Station for fire protection in Brazos County and deferred action
pending further discussion with the City.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Nolan, the Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Frank
Salvato for demolition of the building at 26th and Washington
Streets for the sum of $150.00 plus materials to be salvaged.
There being no further business the eourt adjourned.
