REGULAR MEETING - AUGUST 149 1972
A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse
in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M•.-) on Monday, August 14,
1972 with the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct #1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct #2;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct #4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct #3, arrived
during the meeting.
,The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted
the following reports for July:
B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer;
William T. Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent;
Daniel P. Kubecka, Assistant County Agricultural Agent;
Curtis Taylor, Jr., Associate County Agricultural Agent;
Pricilla Jones, Home Demonstration Agent.
The Court received, considered and approved the following
reports from County and Precinct Officers showing official fees of
office collected and remitted to the County Treasurer according
to duplicate copies of the Treasurer's Official receipts attached
thereto:

The Court first considered the matter of extending the Food
Stamp Program until March 1, 19730 it having been decided by the
Texas Department of Public Welfare that such date would be the
date on which the State would assume the costs of the program.
After discussion, Commissioner Stasny moved the the contract with
the Department of Public Welfare be renewed on an indifiinte basis
until the State assumed the full cost of the Food Stamp Program.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox. All present
voted aye, none voted no, and the motion was declared passed.
The Board of County and District Road Indebtedness having
notified Brazos County, that the sum of $20,177.89 will be
available September'.1, 1972. Commissioner Nolan moved that request
be made for the transfer of such funds to Brazos County, Texas,
for the construction, improvement and maintenance of the county's
lateral roads, The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, and'
all present voted aye, none voted no, and the motion was declared
carried.
All members of the Court thn being present, Commissioner
,Stasny moved that the tax rate for the year 1972 be set on all
property within Brazos County, Texas, as follows:

Commissioner Wilcox, and carried unanimously by all members of
the Court, and taxes are hereby levied on all property in accordance
herewith.

The Court next heard a presentation by Layne Kruse, President
of Student Government of Texas A & M University, who requested to
that the present Precinct No. 9 be divided into three voting
precincts with one of the three to consist of the A & M campus.
After a discussion Commissioner Nolan moved that such division
be accomplished for the voting year beginning March 1, 1973,
with the dividing lines set at Jersey Street and University Drive.
The motion.-was seconded by Commissioner Porterfield, Commissioner
Wilcox voted no, whereupon the County Judge declared that the
motion has carried and such division is hereby ordered. A copy
of the descriptions of all precincts is attached to these minutes. I+
On motion-by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to pay the expeses of Foster
care for the month of July, 1972, in the amount of $713.78.
On motion by Commissioner Nolan, seconded by Commissioner ;i
Porterfield, the plat of PeCan Valley, submitted by J. V. Henton,
was approved with the understanding that the County would be under
no obligation to build, construct or maintain any of the streets

or roads in said subdivision.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner
Nolan, the Court unanimously voted to authorize Commissioner
Wilcox to expend $4,998.93 ourt of the State Lateral Road Fund
for the improvement of Wilcox Lane and Dilly Shaw Tap Road in
Precinct 2.
On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted to

pay all bills which have,been properly filed and approved.
There being no further business the Court adjourned.
