REGULAR MEETING - NOVEMBER 8, 1971
A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse in
Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday, November 8, 1971
with the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct #1;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner.of Precinct #2;
,Clyde-J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct ##3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct #4;
!Frank Boriskie, County Clerk
The Court received, approved, and ordered filed as submitted
the following reports for October 1971:
B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer;
William T. Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent;
Daniel P. Kubecka, Assistant County Agricultural Agent;
Curtis Taylor, Jr., Associate County Agricultural Agent;
Barbara Sharp, Associate County Home Demonstration Agent.
The Court received, considered, and approved the following reports
from ,County and Precinct Officers showing official fees of office
collected and remitted to the County Treasurer according-to duplicate

On recommendation of the Child Welfare Advisory Board,' the
Court unanimously'voted to appoint Jose.A. Grimaldo to fill an
unexpired term on that Board.
On recommendation of the Historical Survey Committedd, the
Court unanimously voted to appoint Mrs. Walter Egan Young as a
member of the Historical Survey Committee.
The Court next considered bids for the pruchase of a legal
file for the Health Unit and deferred action thereon until
January, 1972.
The County Judge presented the Budget for the yerar 1972
and asked that a hearing be set thereon in complicance with the-
statutes providing for such hearing. On motion by Commissioner
Porterfield, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously
voted to set a hearing on'the porposed Budget for the year 1972,
for 1:30 o'clock P. M. on Monday, November 22, 1971, in the
Commissioners' Courtroom, Brazos County Courthouse,'Bryan,
Texas, and ordered the publication of the following notice of
such hearing:
NOTICE OF HEARING ON BRAZOS COUNTY BUDGET FOR 1972
Public notice is hereby given that pursuant
to action of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas,.taken on November 8, 1971, open
public hearing will be held in the Commissioners'
Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, at
1:30 P. M,. on Monday, November-22, 1971, for
c onsideration of the 1972 Budget for Brazos County,
Texas, submitted to the Court on November 8, 1971
and now remaining on file in the office of the County
Clerk•iof said County, all in accordance with law.
Taxpayers and other interested are invited and
urged to acquaint themselves with said Budget during
the time it remains on file with the Clerk before the
hearing.
At the conclusion of the hearing, final action will
be taken by the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
Texas, for the adoption of the Budget for 1972, as
finally agreed upon.

to be made from the Permanent Improvements Fund.
On motion by Commissioner Porterfield, seconded by Commissioner
r Wilcox, the Court)unanimously voted to pay the statement of Humble
Oil and Refining Company in the amount of $97,653.08, for the
re,location of utility'pipelines in connection with the Eastern By-Pass
such payment to be made from the Highway 6 By-pass Fund' and to be
re-imbursed one-half by the State of Texas.
On motion by Commissioner,'Wilcox, seconded by Commissioner Stasny,
the Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Hyster Tilt
Trailers in the amount of $4,902.35 for a tilt trailer for Precinct

t number 1. The other bid was that of T & T Company in the amount of

$4;985.00.
On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted
to;pay all bills which have been properly filed.
There being no further business the Court adjourned.

SPECIAL MEETING - NOVEMBER 22, 1971
The Commissioner's Court of Brazos County, Texas, convened
at,1:30 P. M. on Monday, the 22nd day of Ngvember, 1971, pursua.n
to notice given by publication in the Daily Eagle on the 14th day
of November, 1971, with the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner Precinct 41;
Walter Wilcox, Commissioner Precinct 42;
The County judge called the meeting to order and opened the-
public hearing on the Budget for Brazos County for the year 1972.
(rhe County Judge recommended that the proposed Budget be
amended to provide for a salary for the Secretary to the Associat
County Agents at $3,600.00 per annum.

Tax Assessor-Collector Raymond B. Buchanan asked that the - "
salary of the bookkeeper in that office be increased from
$5,100.00 to $5,400.00.
Several of the officials of the
County requested that
consideration be given to an increas
e in the budgeted salaries
of elected officials.
