They called attention to ;the salary scale of the County,, noting that the majority of the salaries are within the bounds established by the 40% range curve. The Court expressed its r appreciation of the time and effort spent by the members of the class on this study. The Court next considered the certification of the County Clerk concerning a petition for local option liquor election' in the City of College Station. The Clerk having certified that the." petition failed to contain the required number of verified signat- ••ures, no action was taken by the Court. A copy of the Clerk's certification was ordered attached to these minutes for the purpose of recording the results of such petition. The County Judge presented a request from the Texas Department of Public Welfare for the advancement of $4,300.00 to cover expenses of the Food Stamp program for the coming quarter. On motion by Commissioner Porterfield, seconded by Commissiore r Nolan, the Court unanimously voted to forward such funds to the Department of Public Welfare. The Court reviewd and recommeded favorable action on project requests submitted by the Barzos Valley Development Council, as follows: 1. Application by Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center to Department of Health, Education and Welfare of the United States. 2. Application of the City of Bryan to the Texas Water Quality Board. Dr. Burgess presented a resolution for the consideration by the Court, reaffirming the Brazos County Community Action Committee as the authorized representative of the Court in matters dealing with the Office of Economic Opportunity. The Court next confirmed the hiring of C. C. Capps to act as Deputy Sheriff serving as Bailiff, at a salary of $525.00-per month and $75.00 per;month car allowance. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Nolan, the Court unanimously voted to pay the expenses of foster care for the Month of May, in the amount of $646.82. Under other business the Court: " 1. Heard a reqeust from Mr. Lige McWilliams for payment of damage to his automobile resulting from a single car occurance on a county road in pfecinct #2. The County Judge advised Mr. McWilliams that no liability exists for property damage on the part of County government. 2. Accepted and approve for filing the plat of Brazos County Industrial Park, Phase II. t' 3. Accepted the low bid of $74.10 for a legal file cabinet for the Probation Department,,submitted by News Office ! Supply. ti - 4. Accepted the low bid of $329.08 for two 24 drawer document files for the County Clerk's Office submitted by News Office Supply. ' 50 Discussed the need for the speed limit sign at Wellborn. and agreed to request that same be studied by the Texas Highway Department. The Court approved the payment of all bills which have been, porperly presented, approved and filed. {I There being no further business, the Court adjourned.
