M., on MondayJanuary 11, 1971,' with the following present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 41; 'Walter Wilcox, Commissioner of Precinct # 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct # 3; W. A. Stasny,lCommissioner of Precinct # 4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. The dourt received, approved and ordered filed as submitted the following reports for December, 1970: t B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer; B. V. Elkins, Veterans Service Officer; William T. Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent; Daniel P. Kubecka, Assistant County Agricultural Agent; Curtis Taylor, Jr., Associate County Agricultural Agent; Emily Ritter, County Home Demonstration Agent; Barbara Sharp, Associate County Home Demonstration Agent. The Court unanimously agreed to discuss the final arrangements in an executive session immediately after the meeting. ...,,The Court next considered the matter of setting the salaries of all County employees for the year 1971. Commissioner.. Stasny moved that each salary be set at the annual amount provied in the 1971 Budget. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Porterfield and unanimously carried. The Tax Assessor-Collector appeared to request that extra help be paid more than the present amount of $1.50 per hour. A After a discussion, Commissioner Stasny moved to pay all extra pact time help $1.60 per hour ($12.80 per day). The motion was seconded by Commissioner Nolan and carried unanimously. Constable E. W. Sayers appeared to request that his office be allowed milage for all miles actually traveled in the dis- charge of his official duties. Commissioner Porterfield moved that the Constable for Precinct # 7 be allowed 74: per mile on County business, up to a maximum of $80.00 per month. The I motion was seconded by Commissioner Nolan and carried unanimously. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Courtlunanimously voted to finally adopt the budget for the year 1971, which appears in Volume M, page 401 to 413 of the Commissioner Court Minutes, and to cause same to be filed as tY a official budget for Brazos County, to be followed during the,year 1971. , The County Judge next annownced the reappointment of Jake Cangelose as assistant Civil Defense Coordinator for Brazos County. , The County Judge announced the appointment of the following as memebers of the Brazos County Historical Committee: Walter C. Jones, Chairman Mrs. Mit Dansby D. James Boone Mrs. Madge Wallace Mrs. Eleanor Hanover Nance Dr. Luther G. Jones Mr. Charles Edge Miss Lucy Harrison Mr. A. M. Waldrop Mrs. Hazel Richardson Each member to serve a term of two years ending on the 31st day I . of December, 1972. Commissioner Wilcox moved to approve such appointments. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously. The Court next discussed the addition of Major Medical insurance to the bisic hospitalization plan. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Wilcox, the Court unanimously voted to increase the coverage by adding major medical coverage and to pay one-half of the additional premium thereof. I The Court next examined the bonds of the County Officials who were elected during the year 1970. On motion by Commissioner Nolan, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to set the bond of B. V. Elkins, County Treasurer, at $10,000.00, and to apporve each bond filed by such officials. On motion by Commissioner Nolan, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Charles Miller as s1 County Health Officer for two years. -I ~ ;'The County Judge read a proposal from Dr. Leonard Burgess that a class taught by Dr. Burgess at Texas A & M, as a class project, sutdy the wage scale of full-time Courthouse employees. r On!motion by Commissioner Porterfielld, seconded by Commissioner Nolan, the Court voted to authorize such project, with the under=` standing that no obligation exist on the part of the County with reference thereto. After a discussion of the advantages, Commissioner Wilcox moved to authorize the County Judge to enter into such a contract. The motion was ,j seconded by Commissioner Stasny and "carried unanimously. The Court further voted unanimously to appoint the following as the Child Welfare Board for Brazos County, for the term indicated: + Mrs. Rosemary Gongora, term ending December 31, 1971 r Dr. Nena A. Harris, term ending December 31, 1973 Mrs. Mary Jernigan, term ending December 31, 1973 Mrs. Thelma Van Overbeek, term ending December 31, 1973 Rev. Bailey Stone, term ending December 31, 1971 Mrs. Betty Taylor, term ending December 31, 1972 Mr. Milton Turner, term ending December 31, 1972. Commissioner Nolan moved to divide the Road and Bridge Budget into four equal parts of 25% per precinct. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Stasny and carried unanimously. On motion duly made and second d, and unanimously carried the Court voted to pay all bills wh'ch have been properly filed and approved.
