t REGULAR MEETING - AUGUST 109 1970
A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtboom in the'
Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at'10:00 A. M. on Monday,
August. 10, 1970 with the following present:

The minutes of the regular meeting held 2June 8, 1970 and
July 13, 1970 -were read and approved without change.

The Court considered the notification of entente to apply
i for Federal assistant of the Central Brazos Valley Mental Health
Center, Inc. as forwarded by the Brazos Valley Development Council
for review and comment. Mr. John Jacques appeared on behalf of
the applicant and outlined the proposal. The applicant is a non
profit corporation which proposes to establish a Mental Health
Center in the building presently occupied by the St. Joseph Hospital.
The Court unanimously agreed that the project does not•conflit

with-existing plans of Brazos County.
All members being present the Court proceeded to levy
Advajorem taxes on all property-in Brazos County, Texas for the
year 1970. On motion by Commissioner Stasny and seconded by
f by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously voted to•levy such
-taxes for the year 1970 as follows:
General Fund: S .46
Permanent Improvement: .22
Jury: .04

Motion unanimously carried it is so ordered and such taxes are

hereby levied on all property in Brazos County, Texas.
The••Court next considered the Platt of Briarwood Retreat
submitted by Spencer Buchanan. On motion duly made, seconded
and unanimously passed, the Court voted to approve the plat '
' with the understanding that the County would be under no obligation
;to build, construct or maintain any of the streets in said
iSubdivision;,
On motion by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by
Commissioner Nolan the Court unaimously voted to appoint Mr.
' IDon Angonia to fill the vacancg:on the Air Port Study Committee
occasioned by the death of Brazos A, Varisco.
=f, : ' I The Court next considered bids 'for replacement of the
boiler in the Brazos County Courthouse. On motion by Commissioner
ieorterfield and seconded by Commissoner Dunn, the Court unan-

imously voted to accept the low bid of Hensarling Electric Co.•,,
in the amount of $5,385.00 for work described-in a proposal
prepared by J. W. Hall. Other bids were $6,687.00 by W. E.
Kutzschabch Electrical Co. and $6,148.00 by Mabry, Inc.
On motion by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by
Commissioner Dunn the Court voted to request that the Board of
County and District Road Indebtedness forward the sum of
$18,990.00 for use by Brazos County in construction and
improvement of the County's lateral roads.
On motion by Comgissioner Dunn and .seconded by Commissioner
Stasny'the Court voted to pay expenses of foster care for the
month of July in the amount of $557.89.
After consideration of bids for painting the Health Unit
Building insided the Court agreed to defer action and seek
further bids.
The Court next considered the contract with Lone Star Gas
Company for gas service to the Brazos County Courthouse for
the coming year. On motion by Commissioner Dunn and seconded
by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously authorized the
County Judge to execute said contract on behalf of Brazos County.
A copy of same being attached to these minutes.
On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted
to approve all teports and pay all bills which have been properly'
filed and approved.
There being no further business, the Court adjourned.
The foregoing minutes beginning on page, and concluded on
page 1 y were examined and approved in open Court on the / day
of Septe er, 1970.
