A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County
Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse
in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday March 9, 1970
with the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct ##1;
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct ##2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct #3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct #4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The minutes of the regular meeting held February 9, 1970,
and the Special Meeting held March 2,,1970, were read and
approved without change.
The Court received, approved and ordered filed an submitted
the following reports for February:
B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer;
B. V. Elkins, Veterans Service Officer;
William Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent;
Larry L. Boleman, Assistant County Agriculture Agent;
Garland McIlveen, Jr., Associate County Agricultural Agent;
:'Emily Ritter, County Home Demonstration Agent;
Barbara Sharp, Associate County Home Demonstration Agent.
The Court received, considered and approved the following
reports from County and Precinct officers showing official fees
of office collected and remitted to the County Treasurer according
to duplicate copies of the Treasurer's Official receipts attached
thereto:

The County Judge presented a letter from the Texas
Department of Public Welfare requesting that the initial sum
of $4,000.00 be forwarded to that department for expenses in
connection with the Food Stamp Program, such funds to be held
for use in paying expenses of the first quarter operation and

until funds might be received from the U., S. Department of
Agriculture for the portion. of such expenses to be paid by
that department. Commissioner Porterfield moved that the sum
of $4,000.00 be forwarded to the Department of Public Welfare
for such use in accordance with the terms of the contract..
heretofore executed. Motion was seconded by Commissioner
Stasny and unanimously carried.
The next item to be considered was membership by Brazos
County in the Texas Association Of Counties as an annual cost
of $100.00. After a discussion of the benefits, which might'be
expected from such membership Commissioner Stasny moved that
Brazos County join the Texas Association of Counties. The motion
was seconded by Commissioner Porterfield and unanimously carried.
The Court next considered the request of the State Department
Of Public Welfare for the establishment of a Child Welfare Board
for Brazos County, having previously heard a presentation by Mr.
W. T. Bono of the Waco,region of that department. After a
discussion of the cost and benefits to be derived, the Court
unanimously agreed to defer action until such time as the number
of cases being handled would warrant partic,ipation'in such a
program.
On motion by Commissioner Dunn and seconded by Commissioner
Nolan the Court unanimously agreed to approve the public weighers
bond of N. M Clary in the amount of $2,500.00
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously the Court
voted to approve all reportg and pay all bills which have been
properly filed and approved. ;
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned
