A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on.Monday,

Mr. Jack Lester appeared and requested that the County
build a fence along his property line with Briarcrest Drive.
C:
The Court unanimously agreed to refer the matter to Commissioner
Porterfield for d decision.
The next item for consideration was the final adoption
•i •
of the budget for the year 1970. On motion by Commissioner ;
Dunn and seconded by Commissioner Porterfield the Court un-
abimously voted to amend the previously adopted budget to
. a _
provide for 4 five percent (5%) cost of living raise to all
employees excluding elected officials. On request by the Tax
Assessor Collector and on motion by Commissioner Dunn and
seconded by Commissioner Porterfield the Court unanimously voted
to increase the salary of the bookkeeper in that department to
` E $4,725.00 per annum and to increase the car allowance of the
Chief Deputy Tax Assessor Collector and the Assistant County
Agent to $800.00 per annum. On motion by Commissioner Porterfield
and seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously voted to

i increase the General Fund budget by $8,350.00 for liablilty
{ insurance.
On motion by Commissioner Dunn and seconded by Commissioner
Porterfield the Court unanimously voted to finally adopt the
'!j budget for the year 1970,to be filed for use during the year 1970,
a copy of which is attached to these minutes and made a part thereof.
Thn County Judge next p:esented the matter of the Justice
• of the Peace precincts and stated that any realignment should be
made at the present time so that candidates may file for office
prior to the February 2nd deadline. On motion by Commissioner
Nolan and seconded by Commissioner Porterfield the Court unanimously
voted to establish the'fol'lowing Justice of the Peace and

from Commissioners Precinct 3 to Commissioners Precinct 4.
Commissioner Stasny moved that the following motion and order
be-included in the minutes of August 11,1969, for the purpose
,!,.,.of correcting same to reflect action of the Court taken on
that date:
"Commissioner Porterfield moved that effective
March 1, 1970, Voting Precinct No. 4 be included in
Commissioner's Precinct No. 4 and be'removed from
Commissioner's Precinct No. 3 and that effective
on such date, the following be established as
precincts for the election of County Commissioners:
Commissioners Precinct 1 - Election Precincts 1, 2, 89 9, 10

Commissioners Precinct 2 - Election Precincts 5, 6, 179 19

Commissioners Precinct 3 - Election Precincts 3, 119 129 14
Commissioners Precinct 4 - Election Precincts 4, 7, 139 15

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Nolan, and
unanimoulsy carried, whereupon the County Judge announced
the order passed."
The motion to correct the minutes of August 11, 1969, as
stated above, was seconded'by Commissioner Porterfield and carried
unanimously, whereupon the'County Judge announced that the order
has passed, and the minutes are so corrected, and as corrected
approved
The County Judge reported on negotiations with the B-L-D
u agency for the purchase of the building at 24th and Washington,
that an agreement had been reached whereby the County would
purchase such building and premises for a total sum of $80,000.00,
payable 20% down and the balance in 10 equal annual installments.
plus interest at the rate of 6% per annum. Commissioner Porterfield
t moved that the property be purchased for such amount and that the,
County Judge be authorized to sign a contract for such sale.
Commissioner Nolan seconded the motion, which unanimously carried.
The Court next received bids for a new automobile for the
Sheriff's Department. On motion by Commissioner Stasny and
seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously voted to-
{ accept the low bid of Sells trom Pontiac-Buick, Inc. for a 1970

Pontiac Catalina in the amount of $2,770.00

'Gentlemen:
`As your budget officer, and in accordance with the law, there is submitted
herewith the proposed Budget of Brazos County, Texas for the fiscal (calen-
1'••.~,dar) year of 1970, including all anticipated revenue and the proposed dis-
• ` ;bursements. This budget contains the necessary schedules and tabulations
",•in proper detail.
The Texas Statutes require that the county budget be prepared and submit-
ted, and that a public hearing be held thereon, after which it shall be
approved and adopted by the Commissioners' Court, and followed throughout
the budget year.
,'-The within budget calls for a total operating expenditure during the year
1970 of $920,843.00, and an additional $130,667.50 for retirement of'road
bonds.

worker, a full-time clerk and a physician for one-half (1/2) day each week
to staff the aforesaid facility.

"Hospital" covenants and agrees to make no alterations, improvements
