A'regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos

County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in
the
Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. 'on Monday.
December 8, 1969, with the follpwing present:

On'motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously
J voted to accept the low bid of the Southern Steel Company
in-the amount of $2,875.00 for four (4) tool-resisting steel
t
grates to be installed in the Brazos County jail.
'The Court next considered the purchase of Liability Ins-
' urance for coverage under the Texas Tort Claims Act, effective
` -January 1, 1970. Mr. George Mallard informed the Court that
! he could find no company which would write only bodily injury
liability coverage, but wanted to additionally write workmans
Icompensation and property'damage. Mr. Mallard requested that
he be furnished payroll figures prior to submitting any bid
for such insurance.
On motion by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by
voted to accept the provisions contained in the Minute Order
Commissioner Dunn the Commissioners Court of Brazos County
No. 62940 passed by the State Highway Commission January 26,
1969. Motion carried; whereupon motion was declared carried.
A copy of such Minute Order is attached to these minutes.
The Court next considered the bid of John Thomas of Austin'
for demolition of the old Koppe Bridge across the Brazos River.
Onfmotion by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by Comm-
issioner Stasny the Court unanimously voted to advertise for
further bids before a consideration of bids.
There was next read an invitation from the City of College
Station to their annual open house on Friday, December 12th,
' between the hours of 3 and 5 P. M.
On motion by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by
Commissioner Stasny the Court unanimously voted to close the
Brazos County Courthouse on December 25th and 26th for the
Christmas Holidays.
The•Court,next heard a request from B. H. Dewey, Jr.
.,concerning the Justices of the Peace and Constable precints
' to;the effect that the Court enter an order which would not'

1968 to stand for re-election in 1970. The Court deferred
action until the-, January meeting.
On motion duly made and seconded the Court approved all
" bills which had been properly filed.
' There being no further business the Court adjourned.
r SPECIAL MEETING - DECEMBER 22, 1969
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos
County Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the
G Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 11:00 A. M. with
the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, Presiding;
Raymond Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 41;
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 42;
C. J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 43;
W. A. Stasny', Commissioner of Precinct #4.
The Court received the bid of George Mallard, Insurance
Agency for the purchase of liability and workmans compensation
insurance,in the amount of approximately $24,000.00. After
considerable discussion the Court instructed the County Judge
,
to seek additional bids for the purchase of such insurance.
There being no further business the Court adjourned to

an,.executive session in accordance with Art. 6252-17, Sec. 3A and
Art: 6257-17, Sec. 2, for the
~ , purpose of deliberating the
acquisition df additional real property.
