REGULAR MEETING - JULY 14, 1969
A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos
County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the'
Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at! 10:00 A. M. on Monday,'.
July 14, 1969 with the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;

Special meeting held May 26, 1969, and the regular meeting
held June 9, 1969, were read and approved without change.
The Court received, approved and ordered•filed as submitted

The Court next r;.onsidered the matter of setting the date
for a pbblic• hearing to be held on the Proposed Food Program.
After a discussion the hearing was set for Monday, July 28, 1969
at 8:00 P. M. in the District Courtroom.
The County Judge next presented the recommended changes
in the voting precincts for the voting year to begin March 1, 1970 "
and ask that such changes be voted on, after thorough consideration;
at the regular August meeting.
The County Judge advise the Court that the Texas Tort Claims
Act would be effective from and after January 1, 1970 and that
the Court should consider the advisablity of purchasing Liability
Insurance to protect them against claims-after that date.
The next matter for consideration was the payment of the
sum of $700.00 for expenses in connection with the Condemnation
of the large Boyett tract in College Station, in connection
with the underpass at FM 2154. It was pointed out that the City
of College Station would participate in 3/4 of these costs. On
motion bj Commissioner Nolan and seconded by Commissioner Dunn
the Court unanimously voted to pay such costs out of the State
Lateral Road Fund.
On motion by Commissioner Stasny and seconded by Commissioner
Nolan the Court voted to authorize negotiation with Jacob Luza, Jr.
for the purchase of 1.868 acres in the Richard Carter Survey for
the construction of the extension of FM 60 to the east by-pass.
The Court next considered several.`requests from various
organizations concerning utilization of the Bryan Saddle Club
Property. After discussion the Court agreed,to meet with the
Advisory Committee previously appointed at 7:00 P. M•. July 28, 1969.
Motion was made by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by
Commissioner Dunn to authorize the County Judge to sign the

necessary fencing and utility agreement, contractual agreement and
papers relative to billings to the State for 50 - 50 reimbursement
on State Highway 21 from 0.3 miles southwest of the Missouri Pacific
underpass to Loop 158. Motion unanimously carried and it was so ordered.

j` Chief Deputy Tim. Kenhedy requested authorization to attehd f•

{ the Polygraph School at Texas A & M University: On motion by,
Commissioner Dunn and seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court ;

uanimously authorized the expenditure of $500.00 for his
attendance to such school.
i ;
The County Attorney requested an increase in the authorized
salary of the?secretety in that office to !315:00 per month effective
August 19 1969. On motion by Commissioner Dunn and secorided'by
Commissioner Stasny the Court unanimously voted to increase
such salary as requested. '
On motion duly made and aeconded the'Court unanimously voted
to approve all reports and pay all bills which have been properly,
filed and approved. ,

There being no further business the Court adjournes.
