The Court next heard a request from Mr. Ed Burkhart that the
Peach Creek Rcad be improved from State Highway 6 to the rear
entrance of the Texas International Speedway. On behalf of the
Speedway, Mr. Burkhart offered the use of additional right-of-way
which might be needed far this improvement. After a discussion
Commissioner',Porterfield and Commissioner Dunn agreed to assist
Commissioner Nolan in improving this County Road.
The Court next endorsed the application of the City of College
Station for Water And Sewer System Improvement Grants through
the Economic Development Administration.
The Court next received a letter from Dr. R. H. Harrison, Jr.
expressing his appreciation for his attendance to a meeting
of the County Health Officials.
The Court next heard from several interested citizens
concerning the proposed Commodity Distribution Program. After
considerable discussion the Court agreed to hold a public hearing
with adequate notice for the purpose of allowing everyone in
favor of.and opposed to such a program-to be heard and to allow
the further investigation into the cost of such a program.
Raymond B.' Buchanan, Tax Assessor Collector requested that
the Court meet in July for the purpose of examining property
changes in assessed valuations prior to the date that notices
are mailed calling an equalization hearing.
On motion duly made and seconded the Court voted to approve
all reports and pay all bills which have been properly filed
and approved.
There being no further business the Court adjourned.
