Fi..:. r.. 1.. • , r ' .s'i .y.f. v SPECIAL MEETING - MAY 269 1969 I I A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday, May 26, 1969 with the following present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Raymond A: Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct #1; George. Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct #2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct #3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct #4; Frank Boriskie, County Clerk. ,'S1 A representative of the Texas Highway Department'' presented the proposed' four lane expansion -of State Highway 21, f•zbtiri .3 miles- southwest of the Missouri Pacific underpass to loop ;58. After a thorough discussion the Court requested the Highway Department to furnish information with .regard' to specific tracts which ,it would be necessary for the County to acquire for this expansion. _i The County Judge next presented the matter of consolidation,. f --,of election precincts in accordance with Article 202G of the f Texas Election Laws. On motion by Commissioner Porterfield and a + seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously adopted the following order: t r WHEREAS the Legislature has submitted certain Constitutional Amendments to be voted upon on the 5th day of Aguust, 1969, and WHEREAS there is no local office or proposition to be voted on by the voters of Brazos County, and WHEREAS it appears that the voting precints of Brazos County can be consolidated into six (6) election ti precints for the purpose of this election only IT IS THEREFORE ordered and decreed by the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, that the voting precincts, { be consolidated for the voting, in the August 5th, 1969 election as follows and that the following,person, qualified voters of the consolidated precincts in which they are to serve, be named election judges for their f•' respective-consolidate precincts: (a) residents of election precinct numbers 1-2-8-9-10 shall vote at A & M Consolidated' School with Dr. Ed Burns as election judge " and George Draper as the alternate election ' judge; (b) residents of election precinct numbers 5-6-17-19 shall vote at Bonham Elementary ,School with Jane More as election judge and Jackie Robinson as alternate•election• ' judge; , .{!ICY '4,{••~, r1 yl-`l - ~ , ,~p; , nli':~,1(! • 'q>'5~};'al Y ha~E•'.a.'a..__~''>ilril titdt~°...~~' • i (c) residents of election precinct numbers 3-4-14 shall vote at Ben Milam Elementary School with James Fickey as election judge and Mrs. Fore as the alternate election judge; (d) residents of election precinct numbers 11-12 shall vote at Crockett Elementary School with E. C. McLarty, Jr. as election judge; (e) residents of election precinct numbers 7-13-15 shall vote at Henderson Elementary School with Mr. T. H. Black as election judge and John Stasny as the alternate judge; (f) residents of election precinct numbers 16=18 shall vote at Bowie Elementary School with Mrs. W. S. Barron as election judge and Bobbie Faye Carter as tthe alternate election judge. I On motion by Commissioner Porterfield and seconded by L. Commissioner Dunn the Court unanimously voted to purchase 24.359 : acres from C. Edgar Jones and Henry Clay for right-of-way for the West By-Pass at an agreed price of $1,500.00 per acre. On motion by Commissioner Stasny and seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously voted to purchase 19.709 acres from"C. E. Ball for right-of-way purposes for the West By-Pass at an agreed price of $1,500.00 per acre.
