HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-01-06-1000AM-Special4 SPECIAL MEETING - JANUARY 6, 1969 A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday January 6, 1969 with the following present: William R. Vance, County Judge, Presiding; Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner Precinct 1; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4. The County Judge stated that the purpose of the Special meeting was to consider the realignment of Commissioners, Precicents in accordance with the revised voting precincts to become effective March 1, 1969. After a thorough discussion the County Judge moved that the Commissioners Precincts be re-Established effective March 1, 1869 as follows: Commissioners 'Precinct 1 - election precincts 1-2-8-9-10 Commissioners Precinct 2 - election precincts 5-6-17-19 Commissioners Precinct 3 - election precincts 3-4-11--12-14 Commissioners Precinct 4 - ele!cti.on precincts 7-13-15-16-18 Motion was seconded by Commissioner Porterfield. Voting in favor of the motion were Commissioner Nolan, Commissioner Porterfield and the County Judge. 'Voting "no" were Commissioner Stasny and Commissioner Dunn. The County Judge announced that the motion had-duly carried and that the above stated precincts would be effective March 1, 1969. The Court next proceeded to a discussion of the allocation of available Road and Bridge funds between the four Commissioners Precincts. Commissioner Dunn movec, that Precinct 2 and 4 be allocated'30% and Precincts 1 and 3 be allocated 20%. Motion •was seconded by Commissioner Stasn!•. Voting was as follows: Commissioner Stasny and Commissioner Dunn - "Yes" n Commissioner Nolan, Commissioner Porterfield, and County Judge - "no" The County Judge announced that the, motion had failed. Commissioner Porterfield moved that the available Road and Bridge funds be allocated equally among the four Precincts, I each Commissioner Precinct being allocated 25%. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Nolan. Tt%e vote was as follows: `t -ter.
