I ' I I ~ 4 s, 1 1 REGULAR MEETING - DECEMBER 99 1968 A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos 51 County, Texas was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in'the i Courthouse'in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday, I, December 9, 1968, with the following present: William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding; Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; Frank Boriskie, County CYrerk. The minutes of the regular meeting held Wednesday, November 13, 1968 were,,read and approved without change. The Court received approved and ordered filed as submitted the following reports for November, 1968. ' B. V. Elkins, Veterans Service Officer; B. V: Elkins, Welfare Officer; William Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent; Larry L. Boleman, Assistant. County Agricultural Agent; Garland McIlveen, Jr., Associate County Agricultural Agent; Emily Ritter, County Home Demonstration Agent; Mrs. Fannie J. Taylor, Associate County Home Demonstration Agent. The Court received, considered and approved the following, reports from County and Precinct officers showing official fees of office collected and remitted to the County Treasurer according to duplicate copies of the Treasurer's Offical receipts attached thereto: Willia m R. L. Parker that i the County assume the responsibility for maintainingJroads in the Harvey Hillside Addition. After due discussion the Court I agreed to allow Commissioner Nolan sufficient time to inspect i the present condition of such roads before taking action, it being pointed out that such additions are approved by the County with the understanding that: the maintainance would not be done by the County. At the request of Sheriff J. W. Hamilton the Court unanim- ously voted to purchase a 1969 Pontiac for the sum of $2,209.50 on the low bid of Selstrom Pontiac. Other bids being $2,650.00 by Brown-Allen Motor Co. and $2,322.00 by Cade Motor Company. At the request of County Tax Assessor Collector Raymond B. Buchanan the court unanimously 'voted to purchase two (2) Totalia P 2-11 adding machines from Otis McDonalds Business Machines for the total sum of $258,.00 Other bids were from Monroe International, Inc. for a difference of $355.00. The Court next considered the application of Bill Cooley to the State of Texas Highway Department for an access right- of-way across-property at the enter:ance of Fm 60 and Fm 2818. The Court unanimously declined to give its approval to such application. The Court next received a request of the City of Bryan that it be;allowed to place a 69 KV transmission line in the right-of-way of Finfeather Road. On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted to authorize the donstruction of such line subject to the approval of Commissioner Stasny of the actual placement of poles within the right-of-way. On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted not to pay such statement. On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted to purchase a postage scale from Pitney Bowes for the sum of $35.00 On motion by Commissioner Stasny and seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court voted to appoint Dr. R. H. Harrison, Jr. as County Health Officer for the 1959-70 term. On recommendation by Commissioner Dunn and on motion duly made and'seconded,the Court unanimously voted to puuchase a 1969 Ford Model 3000 tractor and cutter for the sum of $3,800.00 on bid of Cen-Tex Tractor-GMC Company. On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted to pay $150.00 to Dr. S. W. Kowierschke for services rendered in connection with the autopsy performed on the body of Bobby Puckett. On motion duly made and seconded the Court unanimously voted to accept the low bid of Bryan Office Equipment for the purchase of 4 electric typewriters for the sum of $1,404.00 less applicable trade ins. The other bids being $1,872.00 by IBM and $1,541.00 by Otis McDonald. On motion duly made and seconded the Court voted to approve all reports and pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved. There being no further business the Court adjourned in memory of Mrs. L. P.
