M. on Monday May 13, 1968 with the following present: Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3, Pfesiding; Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1; ; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2; W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct '4. i - The minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, April 8, 1968 i were read and approved without change. The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted the following reports for April, 1968: J B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer; B. V. Elkins, Veterans Service Officer; William Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent; J. Boyett, Jr., Justice of Peace; Precinct 7 Place 2 Fees collected and,remitted to Brazos County 643.00 Fees to be paid by County for 46 cases 0 $4.00 184.00 voLZLjPAQE .r On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Court accepted the proposal of Western Union for the re- arrangement of certain Western Union lines necessitated by construction of FM-2818 at a cost not to exceed $270.00. There next was presented to the Court a request by the Brazos County Community Action Committee, Inc. that the Committee bd designated and redesignated as the Community Action Agency for Brazos, Burleson and Grimes Counties under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, as amended. After a full discussion of the matter, on motion duly made and seconded, the Court unanimously adopted the resolution designating the Brazos County Community Action Committee, Inc. as the Community Action Agency for Brazos County, and agreed that the County Judge, or his authorized representative, would serve as a member of both the Executive Committee and the Community Action Committee. On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Court approved the appointment of Mrs. Eleanor Hanover Nance and Mrs. Hazel Richardson to the Brazos County Historical Survey Committee for a term to expire December 319 1970. The Court further unanimously accepted the resignation of John T. Duncan as a member of the Brazos County. Historical Survey Committee, and voted to express Its appreciation to Mr. Duncan for the many hours of time spent in furthering the development and distribut- ion of the history of Brazos County. ~i , Upon motion by Commissioner George Dunn, seconded by Commissioner W. A. The Court next considered bids for the purchase of an adding' 'machine for the Tax Assessor-Collector's Office, and on'motion duly r made, seconded and unanimously passed, agreed to purchase a Totalia Model 2341 on the low bid of Otis McDonald Business Machines in the! amount of $229.00. The Court next considered the offer of the City of Bryan, Texas for the purchase of 5.930 acres in the Stephen F. Austin No. 10 Survey which will be necessary for use as right-of-way for the Eastern By-pass Project. The City's offer is in the sum of '$8,895.00 which is the approved,value submitted by the Texas Highway Depart- ment. It was pointed out that the balance due to Bryan Building & Loan Association on indebtedness on the total Saddle Club property was $12,922.25, as of May 1, 1968. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Dunn, the Court unanimously voted to convey this 5.930 acre tract to the City of Bryan, Texas for the 'sum of $8,895.00, and to apply the full amount received to the ,.,:.said outstanding indebtedness, and the County Judge,was authorized to execute formal conveyance of said tract.
