REGULAR MEETING - APRIL 8, 1968

A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County,
Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Courtroom in the Courthouse
I
in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday, April S. 1968
with the following presenti
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1;
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4;
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, March 11,
1968 were read and approved without change.
The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted
the following reports for March 1968:
B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer;
B. V. Elkins, Veterans Service Officer;
William T. Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent;
Garland McIlveen, Jr., Associate County Agricultural Agent;
Emily Ritter, County Home Demonstration Agent;
Mrs. Fannie J. Taylor, Associate County Home Demonstration Agent.
The Court received, considered and approved the following
reports from County and Precincts officers showing official fees
of office collected and remitted to the County Treasurer, according
to duplicate copies of the Treasurer's Official receipts attached
thereto:

Upon discussion of-Monthly reports by County Agents between
the Court and Mr. Sistrunk, the Court unanimously ordered that the
VOLZ-PAG
monthly oral reports made by the County Agents would be heard
semi annually, in February and June The Agents would
continue to file their monthly written reports.
Mr. Sistrunk further reported that he had discussed the
Saddle Club property with Mr. Lloyd Joyce, Chairman of the
Committe heretofore appointed by the Court in connection with
such property and requested that such Committee be authorized
to make a further study of the property in light of the fact
that a portion of the property will be required is right-of-way
for the Eastern By-Pass and to make recommendations to the Court
concerning the future use or sale of the property and the
feasibility of acquiring other property for the same purpose.
The Court unanimously voted to accept such recommendation as the
Committe may make.
Commissioner Nolan reported that he, Commissioner StasnY and
the County Judge had met with the Engineers for the Wellborn Water
Supply Corp. and that a satisfactory schedule had been agreed upon
concerning inspections and consultations between Commissioner Nolan
and Representatives of the Engineers during the period of construction
for the immediate project.
The County Judge next reported to the Court that the Supreme
Court of The United States had decided the Midland Case against
the Commissioners Court of Midland County, Texas and advised that
the time for redistricting is at the July or August Term of the
Commissioners Court. He further reminded the Court that action i
should be taken to reduce the number of registered voters for
:.future years in Precincts 3, 13 and 18. A discussion of Precincts
insued with no action being taken.
On motion by Commissioner Nolan and seconded by Commissioner
Stasny, the Court unanimously voted to appoint Mr. Fletcher Pool ~
as Justice of Peace, Precinct 1, to the vacancy created by the

• death of the Honorable Wallace Dunlap, such appointment'-to extend -
till January 1, 1969 at which time the person elected in the ~
General Election shall take office.
On,motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court
voted to approve all reports and to pay all bills which have been

There being'no further business the meeting adjourned.
The foregoing minutes, -beginning on page and concluded
on page, were examined and approved in open Court on the
3 day of 1968.
