Mr. Raymond Buchanan, County Tax Assessor Collector, requested that the salary of each deputy in the tax office be increased $25.00 per month or in the alternative that the budgeted amount for extra deputies be increased by $2,000.00. On motion of the County Judger seconded by Commissioner Dunn, the salary of each official and employee of the County was unanimously set at the sum set forth in the Budget, as amended. The Court next heard a report by Mr. Davis McGill of A. G. Edwards and Sons to the effect that up to $350,000.00 in Bonds for right-of-way acquisition could be retired by levying the maximum of $0.30 per $100.00 valuation excluding the first $37000.00 valuation of residentual homesteads, divided as follows: $0.20 for the retirement of the $800,000.00 1967 Road Fond Issue and $0.10 for the retirement of the proposed additional right-of-way Bonds for the East By-Pass. On motion by Commissioner Dunn, seconded by Commissioner Nolan, the Court unanimously set the following holidays to be observed by the County during the year 1968: July 4, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and December 24th and 25th. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Nolan, the amount budgeted for the Road and Bridge Funds for the year 1968 was allocated as follows, to-wit: Precinct 1 28%; Precinct 2 28%; Precinct 3 16% Precinct 4 28%. On motion made, seconded and passed, the Court voted to accept the bid of Corbusier Chevrolet Co. in the amount of $5,320.30 for-the purchase of a 1968 Chevrolet Chasis Cab for Precinct #4.- There was next presented a letter from the Texas Highway Department stating that a house trailer :owned by Mr. Ralph Bobbitt was encroaching on the recently acquired right-of-way i . 1 - . Hamilton contact Mr. Bobbitt seeking the removal of the trailer from the right-of-way. Upon request of Sheriff J. W. Hamilton, the Court unamiously confirmed the appointment of Mr. Max Buchanan as Deputy Sheriff to serve in the capacity of Jailer. The Court next discussed recent changes in the warning signs at the south end of FinFeather Road. A proposed system of flasing warning lights was discussed and the Court deferred action thereon until the effectiveness of the new warning signs was known. 3 'On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Commissioner Nolan the Court unanimously appointed Dr. R. H. Harrison, Jr. County Health Officer for the year 1968. 'On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Court w ted to approve all reports and to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved.
