REGULAR MEETING - SEPTEMBER 11, 1967
A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos
County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Court room in the
Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M. on Monday,
September 11, 1967, with the following present:
William R. Vance, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner, of Precinct 1;
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4; and
Frank Boriskie, County Clerk.
The Court received, approved and ordered filed as submitted
the following reports for August, 1967:
B. V. Elkins, Welfare Officer;
B. V. Elkins, Veterans Service Officer;
William T. Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent;
J. Rex Stultz, Assistant County Agricultural Agent;
Emily Ritter, County Home Demonstration Agent;
Mrs. Fannie J. Taylor, Associate County Home Demonstration Agent;
Garland McIlveen, Jr., Associate County Agriculture Agent;
The Court received, considered and approved the following
reports from County and Precinct officers showing offical fees
of office collected and remitted to the County Treasurer,
according to duplicate copies of Treasurer's offical recipts
attached thereto:

Approval for the reappointment of Jake Canglose as Assistant
Defenlse Coordinator was asked by'Judge Vance and unanimously
passed by the Court. This appointment will!.,extend from September
19 1967 through December 31,'1968.
On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed the Court
voted to accept the Deliquent Tax Roll from 1939 to 1965 as
compiled by C. R. Law, Tax Records, Inc.

presented a bill from C. R. Law,'_ Tax Records, Inc.,;in~,the,

amount of $2,526:10 (25,2.61 lines @ 10v a line) for compiling,the

above mentioned Deliquent Tax Roll. Same to be presented to the
State of Texas to determine the amount that the State will pay
with action to be taken on the balance at a later date.
On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed the Court
voted to instruct the County Attorney to file suit on the following
persons and firms for the collection of deliquent personal property
taxes:

There was next presented to the Court a request from Raymond
B. Buchannan, Tax Assessor-Collector, that the sum of $5,000.00
be set aside in the 1968 Budget to computerize the County Tax Roll
and Receipts.
On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed the Court
voted to accept the low bid of News Office Supply in the amount of
$74.38 for one 4 drawer filing cabinet for the Home Demonstration
Office.
On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed the Court
voted to accept the low bid of New Office Supply in the amount
of $269.00 for five 2 drawer file cabinets at $53.80 each for
the Associate Home Demonstration Office.
On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed the Court
voted to pay to the City of Bryan $469.00 for fire calls out of
the City Limits of Bryan.
Motion was made by Commissioner Stasny and seconded by
Commissioner Nolan that the Brazos County Commissioners'
Court accept the provisions contained in Minute Order No.
59891 passed by the State Highway Commission on August 31, 19679
for the improvements by the Texas Highway Department of the road
described below and that Brazos County agrees to furnish all
required right-of-way free of cost to the State:
A Farm to Market Road from State Highway 21 West of Bryan,
Northwest to State Highway 6 North of Bryan, a distance
of approximately 5.0 miles. (Except that portion within
the City limits of Bryan.)

Vote on the motion was as follows:

Against: None
on motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, a Public
Weigher's Bond in the amount of $2,500.00, executed by Jim Beard
as Principal and the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company
as surety to the State of Texas, dated August 10, 1967, was approved.
On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court
voted to pay all the bills on the Brazos County West Side By-Pass
which have been properly file and approved.
There was next presented to the Court a letter from Mr.
A. I. Flowers, Proffessor and Head of the Department of Veter-
inary Public Health expressing his appreciation for the cooperation
of Mr. Alex Allen of the Bryan-Brazos County Health Unit in the
teaching program of his department.
Judge Vance next presented to the Court a letter from the

Texas County and District Retirement System including a brief
summary of the Provisions of the Act which was recently passed
by the Legislature and asked that the Court give consideration
to a retirement system at a later date.
On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court
voted to approve all reports and to pay all bills which have been
properly filed and approved.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
The foregoing Minutes, beginning on page 1 and concluded
on page 3, were examined and approved in open Court on the -ZLI'l
