Elkins, County Treasurer, Commissions for Jan.l thru June 30, 1967 4,726.94 Mr. Raymond Buchanan, County Tax Assessor and Collector, appeared before the Court an reported that the County Attorney had written letters to nine chronic delinquent tax payer and three of them had contacted his office, either by payment or promise to pay at a definite time, but that the remaining six had not. On motion by Commissioner Stasny, seconded by Dunn, the Court voted unanimously to authorize hhd direct the County Attorney to institute suit for the collection of all delinquent taxes owing by the following Bryan Ackdeipydf Cosmetology Red Ball Motor Freight Callaway Lumber Company Callaway-Jones Funeral Home Court's Shoe and Saddle Shop Wilson Company On motion by Stasny, seconded by Dunn, the Court voted unanimously to further authorize an direct the County Attorney to write a letter to each tax payer delinquent over $25.00 and in the event there was no response to such letters thatfsuit be instituted against such delinquent tax payers. Hon. Bill Payne, of the Brazos County Bar Association, appeared before the Court in regard to the proposed County Law Library and the financing thereof. He reported that the Brazos County Bar Association had voted unanimously to request the Commissioners' Court to a`sfss a three-dollar fee for County Law Library in'each Civil case in the County and n1 _,.x3rt Courts, as authorized by law. On motion by Porterfield, seconded by Nolan, the Court voted unanimously to make the following payments for the purchase of right-of-way for the extension of Farm to Market Road 2818; T. L. Smith, Jr., $8,861.30 Mary Stasney Smitb, 4,052.10 Ruble Langston 260.00 Harry Gorzyski 12,712.50 Oscar Peterson 2,093.65 J.D. Smith 9,184.70 On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to approve all reports and to pay all bills which have beer/properly filed and approved. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. SPECIAL MEETING - JULY 26, 1967 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, at 10 00 A. M. on July 26, 1967, with the following present W. C. Davis, County Judge, presiding, Raymond Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1, George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3, and W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4. The purpose of the meeting was to select a County Judge to succeed W. C.Davis, whose resignation as County Judge of Brazos County, Texas, was effective September 1. After con- sidering several persons for the position, on motion by Porterfield, seconded by Nolan, the Court voted unanimously to appoint W. R. Vance County Judge, effective September 1, 1967.
