Came on to be considered the matter of Brazos County allowing discounts on ad
valorem taxes for the year beginning October 1, 1965, which might be paid in advance, as
authorized by Article 7255b, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended by Acts of the 46th
Legislature, 1939, page 654, paragraph 1, an4it being the opinion of the members of the Court
that tax relief is more equitable and uniform when given in the form of reduction in rate,
which has been the practice of this Court whenever possible, on motion duly seconded and
unanimously adopted, the Court voted that the provisions of said law be not adopted and that
Brazos County decline to exercise its option to allow such discounts on county taxes.
WHEREUPON, the meeting recessed.
MEETING - AUGUST 30, 1965
The regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, of
ugust 9, 1965, having been recessed, same was called to order by the County Judge, with the
following Commissioners present:
Raymond A. Nolan, Precinct 1;
George Dunn, Precinct 2;
C. J. Porterfield, Precinct 3;
W. A. Stasny, Precinct 4; and
A. B. Syptak, County Clerk.
The County Judge presented to the Commissioners a proposed change in the voting
b
precincts No. 18 (Stephen F. Austin High School box) and No. 13 (Crockett School box), by
creating from these two boxes a new•16oting precinct No. 20, which would have as its voting
place the Sul Ross Elementary School in the City of Bryan, and the boundary lines for which
proposed voting precinct would be, as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of Villa Maria Road and the
southwest line of Texas Avenue, Highway 6.
Thence in a northeasterly and northerly direction along the centerline of Villa
Maria Road to its intersection with the centerline of East 29th Street.
Thence in an easterly direction along the centerline of East 29th Street to its
intersection with the centerline of Briarcrest Drive.
Thence in a northeasterly direction along the centerline of Briarcrest Drive and
continuing along the line between the John Austin and Richard Carter Leagues to Carter's
Creek.
Thence down Carter's Creek with its meanders to the Northwest line of the present
City Limits of College Station.
Thence in a southwesterly direction along said line to the most easterly corner
of the Putz 200-acre tract.
Thence in a northwesterly direction along the northeast line of said Putz tract
to the most northerly corner of said Putz tract.
Thence in a southwesterly direction along the northwest line of said Putz 200-
acre tract and the Putz 107-acre tract to the most westerly corner of the Putz 107-acre
tract in the southeast line of Lot 81 in Beverley Estates Addition to the City of Bryan.
Thence in a southeasterly direction along the line between said Putz 107-acre
tract and said Beverley Estates Addition to the most easterly corner of Lot 77 of Beverle
Estates Addition.
Thence in a southwesterly direction along the line between said Beverley Estates
addition and the Cooner Addition to the City of College Station to the southwest line
of Texas Avenue.
Thence in a northwesterly direction along the southwest line of Texas Avenue to
the point of beginning.

After much discussion, on motion by Commissioner Porterfield, duly seconded, and
passed, with the f our Commissioners voting "Aye" and the County Judge not voting, the Court
voted to leave the voting precincts as they now exist, without change.
The County Judge then brought up the request for a new metes and bounds description
of the present existing voting precincts to be made in order to clear up and eliminate some
discrepancies existing in the present field-note descriptions of such voting precincts. On
motion made, seconded, and passed, by,the Commissioners voting "For" and the County Judge not
voting, the Commissioners voted against having such new field-note description of the existin
precincts made.
On motion by Commissioner Porterfield, seconded by W. C. Davis, the Court voted un-
animously to authorize the County Judge to continue his study of possibly changing the presen
boundary lines of the Commissioners' Precincts, the Justice of Peace, and Constable Precincts
and the voting Precincts; and the County Judge was further authorized to employ professional
assistance at a cost not to exceed $1,000.
Commissioner Dunn, Precinct 2,presented the following bids, pursuant to previous
autborization of the Court:

On motion made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to accept
bid of Brown- Fogle Equipment Co. for $12,590.00.
The County Judge reported to the Commissioners that, pursuant to their authorization
to borrow the money to pay for the above equipment out of the operating budgets of Precincts
2 and 3 on the best terms available, the County Judge recommended that the sum of $33,000 be
borrowed from The First Bank and Trust of Bryan, Texas. On motion made, seconded, and
unanimously passed, IT IS ORDERED that the Court approve the issuance of a $33,000.00 time
Warrant for the purpose of paying_for certain road machinery purchased for the use of Pre-
cincts Nos. Two and Three ($16,500.00 to be for the use of each of such Precincts). The
Warrant will be paid in four (4) equal annual installments, beginning on the 15th day of
September, 1966, and will bear interest from date of issuance at the rate not to exceed 5% pe:
annum, interest payable annually on each principal payment date. It is further ordered that
there shall be an annual collection by taxation of a sufficient fund to pay all interest on
said warrant and to create a sinking fund sufficient to retire all annual installments on sail
Warrant as they become due and payable. Such Warrant shall be sold to the best bidder and
shall be paid out of the "Road and Bridge Fund."
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

the Commissioners' Court room in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 A. M., on
Monday, September 13, 1965, with tfte following present:
