Came on to be considered the matter of Brazos County allowing discounts on ad valorem
taxes for the year beginning October 1, 1964, which might be paid in advance, as authorized
by Article 7255b, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended by Acts of the 46th Legislatun
1939, page 654, paragraph 1, and it being the opinion of the members of the Court that tax
relief is more equitable and uniform when given in the form of reduction in rate, which has
been the practice of this Court whenever possible, on motion duly seconded and unanimously
adopted, the Court voted that the provisions of said law be not 'adopted and that Brazos '
County decline to exercise its option to allow such discounts on county taxes
On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to approve the bond of
Mrs. Jessie M,' Graham as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

S) SPECIAL MEETING - JULY 29, 1964
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was hold in the
Commissioners' Court room in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 9.00 A. M. on
July 29 , 1964, with the following present
W. C. Davis, County Judge presiding,
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1,
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2;
C. J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3,
W, A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, and
A, B. Syptak, County Clerk,
The County Judge submitted the proposed Budget for the fiscal (calendar) year of 1965,
carrying total proposed expenditures and reserves of $661,580 00 with a recommended tax rate
of 950 per $100.00 valuation Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court
voted to accept the proposed Budget and to set public hearing thereon
Motion made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted, by which it was ordered that the
proposed Budget for 1965 be filed with the County Clerk and set down for public hearing in
the Commissioners' Court room in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, at 10 00 A. M. on Friday,
August 21, 1964, and that public advertisement of this hearing be made by publishing the
following notice in the Bryan Daily Eagle of Bryan, Texas, once each week for three weeks
prior to the public hearing <

"Public notice is hereby given that,pursuant to action of the Commissioners'
Court of Brazos County, Texas, taken on July 29, 1964, open public hearing will
be held in the Commissioners' Court room in the Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, at
10.00 A. M. on Friday, August 21, 1964, for consideration of the 1965 Budget for
,',Brazos County, submitted to the Court on,July,29, 1964, and now remaininq-ibn file
in the office of the County Clerk of said County, all in accordance with law.
"Taxpayers and others interested are invited and urged to acquaint themselves'

Among other business, the following Order was passed:

WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission of the State of Texas has heretofore completed
study and approved the plans for a Railroad grade separation at the intersection of Farm to

arket Road 60 at the crossing of the tracks of the Texas and New Orleans Railroad and the

issouri Pacific Railroad near the northwest corner of the A&M University in'the City of

ollege Station, Texas, as provided for in Minute Order No 48973, passed by the'Highway
C
ommission of the State of Texas on January 3l, 1961, and which Minute Order has heretofore
been accepted by the City of College Station, Texas, a municipal corporation organized and
existing under the laws of the State of Texas, at a special meeting on April 12, 1961, and,
WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission has found and determined that the hereinafter

described land is suitable for such purpose, and that it is necessary to acquire same for such

Railroad grade separation; and,
WHEREAS, the City of College Station, acting through its legally constituted Cinncil-
men, has passed an Order or Resolution requesting the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County to
acquire the right~of way necessary for such project and that the said City of College Station
i
pay three-fourths of the cost of acquiring such right of way and Brazos County one-fourth of
such cost; and,
WHEREAS, Brazos County, through its duly authorized representatives., acting at the
request of the said City of College Station, has negotiated with the owners of such land and
has been unable to agree with such owners as to the fair cash &arket value thereof and damages
if any:
NOW, THEREFORE, SETT RESOLVED by the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas,
that the County Attorney-of Brazos County, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized and directed

to file or cause to be filed against all owners and lienholders proceedings in eminent domain
