On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, Mr. A. S. Syptak;'C'dunty''blerk, was
authorized to receive bids for a new copying machine to be used in the County Olerkts office
and upon receipt of such bids to present same to the Court for further action. ,
On motion duly seconded and unanimously passed, the gourt,voted to apprgye all reports
and to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved. _
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

S IAL MEETING - AUGUST L3, 1964 ,
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the
Comniseionera' Court room in the, Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, on August 19, 1964, with the
following present: _
W. C Davis, County Judge, presiding,
Raymond Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1,
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2, _
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3,
W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, and _
A. B. Syptak, County Clerk.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the appointment-of a successor to fill the un-
expired term of H. L. Graham, deceased, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1. The Court
discussed the different persons who had applied for the position, including Mrs. H. L. Graham
the widow, and the County Judge reported to the Court that he had received an opinion from th
Attorney General of Texas to the effect that the appointment of Mrs. Graham would not be
affected by the fact that she was an employee of Texas A&M University. On motion made, duly
f seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to appoint Mrs H. L. Graham as Justice of
the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1, to fill the unexpired term of her late husband until the next
General Election.
The Court next considered participating with the Cities of Bryan and College Station in
I the purchase of a refrigerator to be used for the storing of emergency medicines by the Civil
G--fense organization of Brazos County On Motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the
4}Court voted to authorize the payment of forty per cent of the coat of such refrigerator to be
+t-^_d by the Civil Defense, provided the City of Bryan also paid forty per cent and the City

The Court next considered the request of the Director of the Brazos County Civil Defense)
office for the purchase of a District RACES, an emergency communication radio network, for
the am of $600.00, it being pointed out by Mr Jake Cangelose, the Director, that such
radio system would be of vital importance to the County Civil Defense set-up in an emergency.
On motion made, seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to authorize the purchase
of such equipment at a cost not to exceed $600 00
On motion made, duly seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to request a
return of the sum of $1,498 03 from the Board of County and District Road Indebtedness of the
State of Texas, which fund was to be credited to the Road and Bridge Fund and used for the
construction or improvement of,lateral roads in Brazos County.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
SPECIAL MEETING - AUGUST 21, 1964
A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the
Commissioners' Court room in the Courthouse at Bryan,,Texas,Ibeginning at 10:00 A. W, on
Friday, August 21y 1964, with the following present-

In accordance with previous action of the Court and public advertisement, the Court
took up the matter of the Budget for the year 1965, as submitted by the County Judge on
July 29, 1964.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court accepted and approved the
Budget as submitted and ordered it certified and filed for official use for the calendar
year 1965.
The transmittal and summary of this Budget are, as follows-

"As your budget officer add in accordance with the law; there is submitted herewith
the proposed Budget of Brazos County for the fiscal (calendar) year of 1965, including
all anticipated revenues and proposed disbursements. The Budget herewith submitted
contains the necessary schedules and tabulations in proper detail

"The statutes require that the County Budget be prepared and submitted during the
month of July and that public hearing thereon be held subsequent to August 15th, r1
after which it shall be finally approved and adopted by the Commissioners' Court
and then strictly adhered to through the following year. "
'"The within Budget calls for a total expenditure during the year 1965 of $661,560.00 '
which is an increase of $30,580 00 over 1964
"REDUCTION OF INDEBTEDNESS
"For the year 1965, Brazos County road bond maturities will be for $23,000 00 plus
$6,900 00 in interest, making-a total of $29,900 00 The State benefits accruing
from the State assumption and the gasoline tax will be sufficient to take care of
and absorb the entire amount. The total road bond indebtedness at the end of 1965
will be $130,000 00
"In addition to road bonds, we will have Courthouse- Jail bonds maturing for
$41,000 00 plus $8,620 00 in interest, making a total of $49,620 00 This will-be
the eleventh payment of Courthouse- Jail bonds and after this payment the total
balance of Courthouse- Jail bonds outstanding will,be $390,000 00 In addition to
these bonds, the County has outstanding a series of Courthouse- Jail warrants
issued March 15, 1956, remaining unmatured in the amount of $80,000 00 During
1965 principal maturing on these warrants will be for $10,000 00 plus $1,600 00 in
interest, making a total of $11,600 00 The total outstanding indebtedness on
Courthouse- Jail bonds and warrants on January 1, 1966 will be $460,000.00, of
which $390,000 00 will be Courthouse- Jail bonds and $;0,000 00 Courthouse- Jail
warrants.
