W Hamilton appeared before the Court and requested authorization to employ am additional Deputy Sheriff and Jailer, it being pointed out that he was only using two active Deputy Sheriffs in addition to Mrs. Taylor, the office secretary, and two Jailers, each of whom was working twelve hours per day. After much discussion, on motion made, duly seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to authorize the employment by Sheriff Hamilton of an additional Deputy Sheriff at an annual salary of $4,100 00 and an additional Jailer at an annual salary of $3,480 00, each of such to be effective August 1, 1964. Syptaki; Clauaty'blark, was authorized to receive bids for a new copying machine to be used in the County Clark's office and upon receipt of such bide to present same to the Court for further action. On motion duly seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to apprgvs all reports I and to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved. A, Ar A, l SPE_C MEETING - AUGUST l3, 1964 , li A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners' Court room in the, Courthouse at Bryan, Tex$e, on August LAY, 1964, with the following present- W. C. Davis, County Judge, presiding Raymond Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1, George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2, Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct 3, W. A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4, and A. B. Syptak, County Clerk The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the appointment of a successor to fill the un- expired term of H. L. Graham, deceased, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1.^ The Court discussed the different persona who had applied for the position, including Mrs. H. L. Graham the widow, and the County Judge reported to the Court that he had received an opinion from th Attorney General of Texae to the effect that the appointment of Mrs. Graham would not be affected by the fact that she was an employee of Texas A&M University. On motion made, duly y seconded, and unanimously passed, the Court voted to appoint Mrs H. L. Graham as Justice of s the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1, to fill the unexpired term of her late husband until the next General Election. I The Court next considered participating with the Cities of Bryan and College Station in the purchase of a refrigerator to be used for the storing of emergency medicines by the Civil Defense organization of Brazos County On Motion made, seconded and unanimous) 1 ~ y passed, the u Court voted to authorize the payment of forty per cent of the colt of such refrigerator to be n-sd by the Civil Defense, provided the City of Bryan also paid forty per cent and the City I %I ,A * c L 1,111
