A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held
in the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, Texas, beginning At 10:00
o'clock A. M., on Monday, November 13, 1961, with the following present:

Mr. B. L. Ripringer appeared before the Court and requested permission to use
the County Courtroom to conduct singing classes for three weeks, and on motion duly second
and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to allow Mr. Risinger taruae the County Courtroom
for a period of three weeks to hold singing classes.
On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, a Public Weigher's Bond in
the amount of $2,500.00, executed by Bryan W. Bobbitt as principal and the Fidelity and
Deposit Company of Maryland as surety to the State of Texas, dated September 25, 1961,
was approved.
On motion made, seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to purchase
a new typewriter for the Secretary to the bounty Judge, and having found and determined
that the proposal of the Cates Typewriter Company of Bryan, Texas., on their 13 inch
carriage electrIt typewriter was the best proposition available for such typewriter, do
motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the (.ourt voted to accept the proposal of
the said Cates Typewriter Lompany of Bryan, TexaA, and purchase the Royal typewriter for
eum of 8275.00 with trade-in of the old Olivetti electric typewriter.
County Clerk A. B. Byptak requested that two of his deputies be allowed to
attend the 1961 Texas Conference on Vital Statistics to be held in Austin, Texas, on
December 4th and 5th, and on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, theuCourt
authorized Mr. Syptak to send two deputies to the 1961 Texas Conference on Vital Statistics
to be held in Austin, Texas, on December 4th dnd 5th, and agreed the County would pay for
expenses incurred.

Dear Judge Davis:
The following recommendation made by the Brazos County
Civil Defense Directors Staff and approved by the cities of Bryan
and College Station is being submitted for your consideration and/
or action.
Due to the urgent need for a part time (.ifil Defense
Administrative Officer to carry out the necessary organizational
county planning program and the coordination activities,which are
urgently needed so that this county can be properly prepared to

withstand a nuclear attack and/or natural disaster, col. R. H.
Locke (retired) was recommended interviewed and approved by both
cities

part time basis at a salary rate of $100. per month.
The recommendatmons made as to cost sharing were divided
on a population basis as follows
Bryan - $40

with all other incidental expenses such-,as office supplies, telephone
costs etc., which are used on an overall county basis, to be shared

y by the three political subdivisions. The total yearly salary
cost for Brazos County would be $480.

After much discussion, and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted,
the Court voted to contftbute $40.00 a month to the salary of an Assistant Civil Defense
Officer, along with the City of Bryan and the City of College Station, Texas, as requested.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all ;t
bills which have been properly filed and approved, and for which budgeted funds are
available.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.
