'z On motion made, seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to approve
two bonds between Raymond B Buchanan, Tax Assessor-Collector and St. Paul Fire and
Marine Insurance Company, of S8 Paut, Minneeota,,for the amounts of $27#984.00 and
$7,726.00 ,
On motion made, duly seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to alose
the Courthouse and the various County offices on December 24, 25 and 26 for the Christmas
Holidays, and also close the Courthouse again on December 3L, January 1, and 2, for the
New Year Holidays
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to purchase
drapes for the office of the County Judge
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all
bills which have been properly filed and approved

Mrs. Fannie J Taylor, Negro County Demonstration Agent, appeared before the
Court and requested a leave of absence to attend a meeting of the National Negro Home
Demonstration Agents Aasosiation to be held in Dublin, Georgia, on January 14 and 15.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to grant Mrs Taylor ,
a leave of absence in order that she could attend the Meeting in Dublin, Georgia, as
requested.
On motion made, duly seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to
approve bonds for the officials who were sworn in on January 1 and 2, 1961.
On motion made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to
hire Mr. Martin Merka as a Mechanic in the County Shop at a salary of $325 00 per month,
such salary to be paid out of the Commissioners' Operating fund
on motion made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, salary of Court
Reporter fixed at $266.66 per month and salary of Probation Officer fixed at $600.00 per
month. ;
On motion duly seconded and adoptedtby majority vote, with Gommissionera
8tasny and Nolan voting *no*, the Court voted to raise the salary of Tony Kalinec to

Preliminary to the selection of an official county depository for the biennium
1961-1962, and-in (accordance with the provisions of Article,2344, of the}Revifed, 91Y
Statutes of Texas, as amended, by-unanimous vote, the court authorized the County Judge
to advertise for bids from interested banks by publication,ths following notice in the
Bryan Daily Aarle once each week for three weeks prior to the regular February meeting of

r. << Notice is hereby given that Brazos County will receive bids up to ten
o'clock a. m.t on Monday, February 13, 1961, for a depository for the
biennium of 1661-62, for official county funds, including those of
the common school districts.
All funds must be protected by bonds and pledges of cash or securities,
as well as by provisions of the federal Deposit Insurance Gorporation.
All bids must be accompanied by certified check payable to the tommissionera'
4 Court of Brazos County Texas, !or not less than one-half of one per cent
of the county revenue for the year of 1960, which shall be forfeited if
the successful bidder does not enter into the necessary bonds and pledges
of cash or securities.

county Judge Davis laid before the court a letter which he received from
Virgil Estill, constable of Precinct 4, of Brazos bounty, Texas, requesting that he be
allowed a_car,expense account, for the use of his own personal car in performing official
duties. On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, the court voted to allow
Mr. Estill $0.08 per mile, not to exceed 1,000 miles, for use of his automobile in

carrying out official duties of the office of Constable.
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to
allow the county Judge to seek bids for the installation of an elevator in the County
Courthouse.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all ,
bills which have been properly filed and approved.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

A special meeting of the commissioners court of Brazos County, Texas, was
held in the county courtroom in the courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10:00 otclock
A. M., on Monday, January 2, 1961, with the following present.
